| Moi!
Hello everyone!
I'm a Canadian, too, but I'm going to go and live in Finland in a year or two... I think it's the best country, really beautiful.
I was just there for Juhannus, and I miss it already! And you Finns aren't sulky, I think you're really friendly... and I'm a Canadian, so I should know! | 0 @ 13-07-2004 18:52 SaaraB | 74 posts
| Oh, and also the Finnish language isn't that difficult! English-speakers (and others) just have to realise that it's different and won't have any relation to what they speak. Even speaking Hungarian won't help you much... the grammar structures are the same, but hardly any of the vocabulary is (just stuff like yksi (which means one)). | 0 @ 14-07-2004 16:44 hermis | 201 posts
| Okei, uusi käyttäjä ilmottautuu. Tai no, en vaan tänne fooruille oo jaksanu aiemmin kirjoitella. Ja Suomesta kuten näkyy.
It's interesting to notice that some foreigners have found this topic and actually know Finland. Maybe we're not so unknown (oh yes we are..) country than I've always thought. | 0 @ 14-07-2004 19:37 Katka36 | 11,063 posts

| I don't think Finland is unknown... at least not in Canada! However, there is this story I heard that's kind of funny:
These two Finns were traveling through Africa, and as they reached the border crossing between countries, the officials took a look at their passports and promptly arrested them.
The reason? They didn't believe that Finland was a real country, and believed these two innocents were spies! So they had to travel for hours to the border crossing HQ, which was the only place that had a map. And lo and behold! Finland really IS a country!
My Aunt Sirkku told me that one, I think... I don't know whether or not it's true, but it could've happened! | 0 @ 17-07-2004 04:50 hermis | 201 posts
| Ok, maybe Finalnd isn't so unknown after all. But I actually meant that even though some people know where is Finland and that we're not living among ice bears, we're not so well-known in the world because we're not in the heart of Europe or anything. Music has made us a little bit more famous abroad.. I'd just love to see more foreigners here, it always cheers me up to see some Japanese groun in Helsinki taking pictures of people and being lost with their cameras and silly little maps. (Didn't say it as a bad way then..) | 0 @ 17-07-2004 04:51 hermis | 201 posts
| Aaaaargh. I think I'll never learn to write a message without those stupid typing errors. Or read my messages before I send them. Sorry. | 0 @ 18-07-2004 22:12 SaaraB | 74 posts
| Well, since I've come back home from Finland, I've convinced all of my friends that it's a great place to vacation... so you might be seeing a few more tourists there soon! And it'll be Canadians with THEIR funny little maps... | 0 @ 05-08-2004 20:04 justakid88 | 31 posts

You who are from canada: My mothers cousin live in canada... I wish I can go to canada.
Ajattelin lähteä joskus kielimatkalle englantiin, olisi hauksaa | 0 @ 16-11-2004 12:36 Jarka79 | 1,060 posts
| Suomi ja suomalaisuus!
Vaikka itse olenkin Euroopan pääkaupungissa Brysselissä tällä hetkellä, kyllä sinne Suomeen kaipaan takaisin! Onneksi joulu lähestyy ja pääsee kotiin!
Terveisiä kaikille suomalaisille ja Suomi-faneille!!! Saa laittaa postia ja kysellä kuulumisia.

Living in a different country opens your eyes to se a totally different world. I miss Finland, things don't always go like you'd like them to go but anyway, there is no place like home! Nil aon tintean mar do thinteán féin [Irish] |
