| If a tree falls in a forest, with no one around for miles, does it still make a sound?
well, does it? |

| Maybe we should leave some recording equipment in the forest to find out - that way nobody has to be near it when it happens | 0 @ 02-10-2003 20:00 NightShade | 2,772 posts
| obviously it does. sound waves aren't dependant upon the presence of a human. | 0 @ 02-10-2003 20:03 BoOtAy426 | 11,302 posts

| hi to andro- good point
also, must agree, but its supposed to make you think that humans cant be around to witness everyting..oh, bugger it, i have no idea what it means | 0 @ 02-10-2003 20:59 AnTiHurLeyPUnk1 | 2,232 posts
| Of COURSE it makes a sound!
...if I fart in my sleep did I really fart? | 0 @ 02-10-2003 21:00 radiate86 | 3,311 posts
| Yes...it's just that no one hears it. | 0 @ 02-10-2003 21:26 AnTiHurLeyPUnk1 | 2,232 posts
| Exactly... | 0 @ 02-10-2003 21:30 andro | 42,248 posts
| I just thought of something...
All observed falling trees make a sound. Therefore, it could be said that all falling trees will make a sound, unless proven otherwise | 0 @ 03-10-2003 04:21 xpierre_fanx | 1,165 posts
| lol thats interesting, leave me something to think about before I go to sleep! lol ok everyone, I'm going for the night..

| I've asked this before and I'm asking it again: if a tree falls in the forest and no one's around to hear it, will the other trees help it up and stop it from crying? | 0 @ 03-10-2003 05:18 anoobis | 15,407 posts

| of course they will, Matt... trees are nice like that!!! no need to ask that question!
| 0 @ 04-10-2003 16:13 LPE | 5,374 posts
| I think the whole point of that question is just to point out that sound isnt a sound until it reaches someones/somethings ears. So therefore is nothings around to hear it...there is no sound.
I dont think i explained myself too well...if anyone gets what i mean please reply! | 0 @ 04-10-2003 19:11 star_light | 3,206 posts
| no | 0 @ 04-10-2003 20:49 LPE | 5,374 posts
| Right well ill try to explain it some more...sound is transmitted in waves. Sound is just waves unless it gets processed in someones ear. Well if there is no ear to process it, it stays as waves...so it isnt a sound.
Still isnt explained...but ah well. | 0 @ 04-10-2003 20:49 AZpride | 2,608 posts

| I have another profound question about school buses...You know how they open and close from the inside, right? Well, how do the drivers close the doors when they park them for the night? And how do they get back in in the morning?
Just my random thought. | 0 @ 05-10-2003 04:13 Siboona | 347 posts
