| do tell me [/b]what the hell is catholic about? please all you people who claim to be catholic tell me what your religion is all about? tell me why the hell you have to tell your sins to a preist so that the preist can "tell God" so that your sins would be forgivien! tell me why it is that you catholics beleive that you have to do good things to get you into heaven!!! cause you know that the whole reason that jesus christ came down to this earth to die for our sins, and if you say that the only way to get to heaven is by doing good deads then the purpose of jesus is compleatly useless!!!!! if that was true, that you had to do good things to get to heaven makeing jesus useless, then the whole base of christanity, what catholisism is based off of is completly unnessesary!!! jesus unnessesary? i dont think so.. also you can never be good enough to get in to heaven!!!! so dont try, that is what jesus is for!!! tell me one more thing why is it that you catholics take such offence when people comment or dissagree with you when you dont even know what the hell it is that you believe in!!! please argue with me!

| Most religions are based on faith. All religions are right in their own way. Some people didn't choose their religion but were born into it. I was born into being a catholic. | I have a little question for you before I start on my story: what religion do you have or were you raised in? Just to know how you got all these strange ideas about Catholics.
Mind you people, she said it straight away, but I know there are million of people here and in my own envirioment, who think the same. they simply don't know better...

Catholics belive in the Almighty pwer of God, that He created the world and He gave us life. He became human in the form of Jesus Christ, to save our souls, but also to teach us how we really should live and take care of each other, to ake the world a better place so that eventually, His empire can be founded here on earth.
Besides that, we also believe in (and now I don't know the word! lol) that the host during the mass really becomes the body of Christ. Also we praise the Saints (mind you, we don't idolize them), because they are the witnesses of God. We also praise Mary, the Holy Virgin and mother of Christ (again, not idolize). There is much more, really too much to tell here...

In all christian faiths, it is a fact that people are all sinners, we are born sinners. Catholics have the tradition to tell their sins to a priest, the priest is the representative of the pope in some way, and the pope is the representative of God on earth, so through the priest, you get to know what to do with your sins, how to handle them and to live with them without getting mad of guild.
tell me why it is that you catholics beleive that you have to do good things to get you into heaven!!! cause you know that the whole reason that jesus christ came down to this earth to die for our sins, and if you say that the only way to get to heaven is by doing good deads then the purpose of jesus is compleatly useless!!!!! if that was true, that you had to do good things to get to heaven makeing jesus useless, then the whole base of christanity, what catholisism is based off of is completly unnessesary!!! jesus unnessesary? i dont think so.. also you can never be good enough to get in to heaven!!!! so dont try, that is what jesus is for!!!
this isn't merely what catholics are supposed to do, this is the main message of the New Testament, to make this world livable, you have to help each other, wheater or not you do that with the intention to get into heaven. (it's my opinon that it's better not to do good only to get into heaven) Christ came indeed on earth to die to get rid of teh bruden of the sins we got after the fall of Adam & Eve. And that was not useless, cause people only get into heaven after the Last Judgement, only then everything will fall into pieces.
And indeed, as sweetie says, is it bad to do good?? cause otherwise, the world really gets txisted these days!!

I don't easily get offenced by people who seem to know only little about my faith, I realy want to explain it to them. When I do get offended, that is when I explained it all and I notice people don't listen to you or simply don't want to understand. Or, when people say, that we don't know our faith, whan clearly we know more about it than those who offend us...
I hope you understand a bit of Catholicism now, obviously I can't explain it all, it is so complex and I know too few english for it too eplain.
But I hope that when you have questions in the future about any religion or anything at all, you could handle it with a bit more respect...

What is any religion about? Faith in God, and the need for absolution.

It's PRIEST, first of all...simple rules of English...I before E, except after C...
Secondly...Confession is one of the Seven Sacraments...the priest doesn't relay the sins to God; in large part, Confession is admitting your sins to another person, and therefore, admitting that you did sin, you know that you sinned, and you regret it.

You don't have to do "good things" to get into heaven - you just have to live by the 10 Commandments, which are basic morals, anyway. Don't steal, don't kill, respect your parents, don't mess around with someone else's wife/husband...etc.

Yes, Jesus did die for us; because the entire human race had become so...what's the word...decadent. It was basically a wake-up call, reminding us of the 10 Commandments, and that God does love us all. Just because He died for us does not mean we can take His sacrifice for granted.

Jesus is to teach us. If we refuse to learn from Him, and learn to live by His example, then we are causing His sacrifice to have been in vain, and we are not honoring His memory.

but not to get too sentimental, faith is a beautiful thing. faith isn't all about just believing in things u cant see, it's about not being *cough* IGNORANT *cough* and opening your eyes...being more empathetic.
