| hey everybody. I just wanted to say this: I'm what some people call a "deist" which means I believe in a little word called "deism". Deism is simply the belief, based solely on reason, in a God who created the universe and then abandoned it, assuming no control over life, exerting no influence on natural phenomena, and giving no supernatural revelation. Basically what that means is I believe god created the earth and humans, but abandoned man and left him to find his way on his own.
So... anyone else out there that believes in deism?

just wait till I got this one sorted out Ally - I have a book upstairs which deals with all the philosophers of the past and I'll post a nice little summary on deism and Voltaire on Monday  and then this thread will most definitely have reached a more mature level, since it will have closed this particular line of discussion permanently
