| Check this out... The UK is FINALLY making e-mail spamming illegal...
The news story can be found here
I'm glad it's happening. Although, for the flow of spam to stop, I think the US and a few of the countries in Asia (where most spammers are) should impose similar laws...
What do you guys/gals think? |

| that's kool! Now... if we just had that here. I get all this spam in my other hotmail account. i block and i put up the filter but nothing happenes. I still get them. | 0 @ 19-09-2003 01:49 Kickink192 | 6,823 posts
| they'll bring in the fact that you can delete it without reading it if you wish. | 0 @ 19-09-2003 01:50 El_Mono_Loco | 24,347 posts
| Well, besides my sick rendition of one of the 200 e-mails I get everyday, I am definitely for a non-spamming law, I'd love to take these mother****ers to court who keep e-mailing me this shit.... hell, I'll just take them out back, beat their brains out with a baseball bat (or cricket stick, for our UK forumers) and call it even! | 0 @ 19-09-2003 01:53 Dream27 | 6,205 posts
| lol, I wanna help Matt! but i have my own to do that too lol. | 0 @ 19-09-2003 01:53 andro | 42,248 posts
| Dream - try Yahoo Mail... More free space for e-mails plus the spam filter's rather more effective...
As for the point about the ability to delete spam messages without reading them, that can easily be counteracted by the fact that spam takes up more than half of the messages sent on the internet daily, which turns into bandwidth clogging to the extreme. It's another form of theft as well, if you look at it that way | 0 @ 19-09-2003 01:54 Kickink192 | 6,823 posts
| how is it theft? | 0 @ 19-09-2003 01:55 Dream27 | 6,205 posts
| the Yahoo email is better. I have an account there too and the spam guard is more effective. | 0 @ 19-09-2003 01:57 andro | 42,248 posts
| It's theft since it's unsolicited use of a transmission network to send unwanted messages. I look at it in the same way as hijacking an aircraft
* offtopic : I love my Yahoo Mail account - nearly 99% of spam message are sent to the bulk folder... Now if only none of them would even come at all...
| 0 @ 19-09-2003 01:59 Kickink192 | 6,823 posts
| i find it different from hijacking considering you dont have the ability to ignore a hijacking, like you can with junk mail.
anyway, Yahoo does have a brilliant guard, though sometimes it blocks some of my friends emails also... | 0 @ 19-09-2003 01:59 Dream27 | 6,205 posts
| * offtopic : heh, i hate deleting bulk mesages
| 0 @ 19-09-2003 02:01 andro | 42,248 posts
| * offtopic : If it blocks your friends's e-mails to you, then find the message in your bulk folder and reprt it to Yahoo for a review. That'll make sure messages from that addy never go to your bulk mail folder again

| I prefer hotmail, I have both, and I like hotmail's attachment feature and overall layout a lot better....
And I agree, since people pay money to use the internet, cloggin it up with spam is the same as blocking off traffic on a major highway, with in this country, if found guilty, is considered a felony offense and punishable by jail time and a huge fine..... | 0 @ 19-09-2003 02:03 El_Mono_Loco | 24,347 posts
| Oh, and in case you tend to say there's no way around a traffic jam, there is, back roads, and alternative routes, also set up in the occurance of toxic spills, accidents, road-work and DUI chekcpoints, and it's still highly illegal..... | 0 @ 19-09-2003 02:03 Dream27 | 6,205 posts
| But see matt, the spam! i don't liek that! that's why i like yahoo too. But then again you do have a point on the layout of hotmail. I like it too. | 0 @ 19-09-2003 02:07 CatX3 | 2,296 posts
| hmm I have hotmail and I have the filter on the highest thing it goes on which is great no more junk about long lost friends... but what I did discover is that allof the people that I forgot to put on my safe list go into junk mail and the trash can although I would rather go through junk mail and select on a couple of emails... rather than have to go into my inbox and delete 300 emails of total junk.. | 0 @ 19-09-2003 02:08 El_Mono_Loco | 24,347 posts
| Hotmail has great filters, I have all 10 of mine configured and I have a high security function, and my junk mail deletes immediately, I rarely get e-mail I don't want in my inbox, possibly 3-5 a day, but like I said, I get 200 a day without filters (I've checked), but I can also set it to just receive from people in my address book and safe list, if I choose to. | 0 @ 19-09-2003 02:11 CatX3 | 2,296 posts
| yeh I really like it too!
but still the people that send junk mail should be beaten up in a dark alley.... I think for some it's their job isn't it? what a life! | 0 @ 19-09-2003 02:14 andro | 42,248 posts
| Beating them up isn't slow or painful enough for their demise... It needs to be more tortuous than that | 0 @ 19-09-2003 02:19 CatX3 | 2,296 posts
| very true buddy....
ummmm... how about making them listen to celine dion for 10 hrs... followed by barbra steisand and then they have to go into every single persons account that they spammed and they have to deleted the messages one by one..... | 0 @ 19-09-2003 02:24 andro | 42,248 posts
| I AGREE!!!!!
Why not force them to listen to the tortured screams of the other spammers as well?
