Despite making her fans pay $300 for an autograph she did this to someone:

Beyoncé just lost one British fan. Artist Paul Stillwell tells us that he started painting one year ago to cope with the death of his mother. He made this portrait of the singer (a copy of her "Dangerously in Love" album cover), and, when he heard about her recent concert at Wembley Stadium, he tells us, "I traveled 100 miles to London and waited outside her hotel for five hours. ... When she came out I showed her my painting and said, ‘Beyoncé, will you sign my painting?' She said, 'No, sorry,' and walked away. ... I was devastated, as the painting took me over 80 hours to paint and I had put my whole heart and soul into it. I was shocked that she wouldn't take two seconds of her time to sign her name on it." There was no response by deadline to a request for comment from the singer's rep.

3,059 posts	Oh to be Rich & Famous and waft away mere civilians like the flies that they are. It must be incredibly hard to pick up a pen and sign your name. Mind you, I don't think I'd be foolish enough to drive 100 miles and wait around just for the off chance that some pop star might scrawl her name on my painting.

816 posts	Well, it's dumb in the first place to spend more than 80 hours to paint a painting of any celebrity, then traveling a 100 miles to see her and wasting 5 precious hours waiting for her...

23,504 posts	well leonardo dicaprio and billy zane were happy to sign his titanic painting, and a few other actors and actresses he's painted. the beyonce painting was therapeutic for him. i've painted celebrities before it's not a waste of time.

816 posts	I'm not denying that Beyonce sucks and that other celebrities may be better than her. But really, he could have done something constructive with those 80 hours and traveling to see her, everything.

19,812 posts	So since it was 'dumb' for this guy to spend 80 hours on his painting, does that make it dumb for Michelangelo to have spent 4 years painting the Sistine Chapel? Or Da Vinci on the Mona Lisa? Or for any other artist to have spent their time painting works of art that are now hanging in museums? If it's what the guy enjoys doing with his time, it's not a waste. And it certainly wouldn't have been a waste of Beyonce's precious 5 seconds to sign his painting. Famous people who act like that need a slap in the face to bring them back down to earth. If it weren't for people like this guy she'd be nothing.

19,812 posts	If only he could have known she was going to be like that.. would have saved him the time. Celebrities like her need to go around wearing a big sign saying "I'm a prick, don't ask for my autograph." Would save everyone the trouble.

5,285 posts	I don't think she could have known the guy had put so much into it though. I'm sure if she did she would have signed it. I don't see why she couldn't take 2 seconds and sign it but maybe she didn't wanna draw attention to herself? Poor guy though.

I don't really think any of us can actually judge Beyonce Knowles on what she did to this guy. The story is only being told from the artist's POV, Beyonce hasn't even issued a reply to it. But if she does, it'll probably be an apology and she'll sign it for him, and prolly give him something else too, cuz celebrities are generous. Sure we all have our opinions on the subject, but it's unfair to Beyonce to slander her like this when we've only gotten a piece of the story. Of course we're all going to side with the poor artist who got snubbed by the celebrity for her autograph, why wouldn't we? Not a single one of us members of LSI can even pass judgement on it. Beyonce's life is probably 100x more busy than any of ours, so we can't even fathom the reason she had to turn him down. But she also said "sorry" to the guy, which probably implies that she had somewhere very important to be at that time. She very well could've wanted to give her signature to the portrait that is going to immortalize her forever on canvas, but she just couldn't at that particular time. People just have to understand that eventhough it's a convenient time for you, it may not be for someone else, even if it is something that could take two seconds (well, prolly more like a minute, or 40 seconds) to accomplish. This guy'll prolly hate her for a while, then when she issues an apology and signs his picture, he'll love her again! C'est la vie!

Well he went to a premiere she was at to get it signed but she only signed 4 at the premier. He also went to a meet and great and she just handed already signed autographs out. She has been known to snub her fans. When he did a titanic painting he took it to leonardo dicaprio's priemere and he managed to get it signed leo said how wonderful it was and even went back before going in to sign more fan signatures billy zane also signed it and told him how greatly he was that someone would do that. he did one also of paul mccartney and bumped into him in london one time and even had a picture taken and chat with him.... if the greats can do it why can't she really?

I've never known she charges $300 for an autograph...US$300 wouold be more than HK$2100! whoa...I wouldn't pay...there's been many adds of her and I don't usually see celeb adds on TV. I haven't heard her music though, just Irreplaceable. I thought Freakum Dress was good, but just turns out that there was only 3 lines in the whole song that I liked...I haven't listened to the rest of her music after that.

6,282 posts	Hmm.. try to put yourself in Beyonce's position. Okay.. not her position, but think of yourself as a famous and successful singer. Would you take the time to sign an autograph for perhaps the 1000000th fan you've come across? I'm not defending Beyonce here. But when people get famous and rich, they get equal shit in their head to the money they make. And develop a superior personality. There are very few who can withstand such a trait. And I don't like her, as most of you might assume, but I'm just giving her the benefit of the doubt. Who knows she was in a bad mood? shields himself from the tomatoes and stuff thrown at him by the forummers
