So I finally watched it! One movie I longed to see even before this year started. And I'm afraid to say, despite me being a great spidy fan, I was disappointed. If you havn't seen the movie yet, you might not want to read any further.

The direction was very average, or was it the script? Maybe both. I don't know whether the intention was to relate the movie to the comics/cartoons or not, because there were many instances it didn't. I was in a group of 20 friends in which alot of them weren't spidy fans, yet they were disappointed too. There were quite a few times that in the middle of the movie I took a break to look down at my watch, thats evidence the movie got boring at certain parts. Ofcourse, if you want to make a 140minute long movie, don't drag it. Moreover, don't just force scenes that don't go with the flow. There were so many flaws that I noticed in the movie, that if I actually wrote them down, this post would be unattractively long.

To begin with, the starting of the movie was bad. You just show the rise of each villian one after another, it was like I was watching a custom made clip by random people on Youtube. How about the romantic scenes? I was literally cringing because of the cheesy lines. The special effects were great, as expected, you can't rate a movie just because of its special effects nowadays. Unless they were out-of-the-world. It was funny though that sandman could "fly". Oh and venom, which (in the movie) emerged from a mini meteor (on fire obviously) and was eventually eliminated by a bomb ie. fire again.

I'm not naturally a critic, but I really had more expectations from the movie. Maybe if Sam Raimi (the director) hadn't only considered 12 year olds and under -and not teenagers and/or older- while making the movie.

Then again, this is my opinion. What about yours?

To be honest... I havent read everything you said yet (but i will). However, I saw it on the first showing and i was really disappointed. It was corny, the story of spiderman/peter parker never progressed, and the bad guys were kinda lame. The fighting and the cgi and everything was awesome, but there was just so much all packed into such a short time period that it was all a confusing mess of wacky things going on.

i'm thinking that people's opinions may be different from someone who's a spiderman fan, from the comics to now. rather than someone who likes the movie which is me. i have yet to see the movie because i had no time to this weekend so i guess i'm gonna go next weekend. i heard good things and bad things, bad things are coming from people who are spiderman fans from the comics and know more about it... just my observation

I remember the second movie was pretty bad, so I was hoping this one would've made a better comeback.. it did compared to the second, however it was still 'draggy' and slightly boring in places. I thought the whole sandman thing was cool, but in many places they made it look very unrealistic, so that just killed it.

Haha, and I have to say the cheesy-est bit was Peter Parker's awfully embarrassing transformation in the middle of the movie.. yeahh, that was pretty bad. I would not watch this movie again.. it was more of a time-pass than actual entertainment. You're right though, I loved the special effects, but that's probably the only thing that made the movie 'significant' in my eyes.

Oh yeah, and another thing.. why on earth didn't they kill off that moronic git - Mary Jane. She only made the movie more painful to watch.

My opinion isn't just from a fan's perspective. I've considered my non-spidy-fans opinions aswell in my review of the movie.

The best idea for people who havn't seen the movie is, go in with least expections. This way you lose nothing =]

I've heard a lot of disappointing reviews so far, no good ones except my friend, who doesn't really give any persuasive arguements for it. I will see it eventually, most likely waiting until it comes out on dvd.

Why do people spell Spidy like this? It's Spidey ya Jerks! JK. BTW Darxide, ya can't really go into Spiderman 3 with least expectations, this movie has been expected since 2004 at the very latest!

OOOHHHH! I have yet to watch the third installment of the Spiderman movies. I wanted to get in there on opening day to contribute to their opening weekend record that they were sure to set, but alas, I could nay find a theatre whose showing times weren't all sold out. Hopefully sometime in the near future I'll be able to see it in theatres as opposed to DVD, or BLU RAY. I watched the clips on youtube, and the part with the crane and the building looked really sweet!

LONG LIVE SPIDERMAN!

doesn't mean the movie is any good though. You could wait a century for it and the movie could still be bad.

You're not bloody like to wait a whole century for a movie's release (yes, I do get your analogy though). I just meant that this is a very hyped up movie, it's a major freakin summer blockbuster for crying out loud. And especially with the first two receiving fairly decent critical acclaim, it's more than likely that the third will be a good movie to watch as well. But apparently it isn't according to a lot of people.

I saw the movie and I really enjoyed it !

It's interesting , there's a lot of excitement!

Here in the UAE most if not all my friends saw it and 50% said it was adventurous , interesting and fun . ( I'm one of them)

The other 50% said it was interesting but made for young audience !

God ! The cinema was really full that day !

I've got a question though :-

How many sequels of the movie will there be ?

Because in the comic books there's soo many villains to come and so many events ... I think there will be spider-man 9 or 10 !

If that were true there would be over 100 X-Men movies....

Depends how well this movie does in the box-office. But usually all third sequels are the last of the lot.

Ok, I only know a little about the comics (mainly looking up Venom so I was prepared to know more for the movie) but ... I was very really disappointed. For a number of reasons. Lots, both niggles and amazingly stupid. Here are 10:

1) Evil Spiderman is emo. Why is this? I didn't get it.

2) The way the symbiote came to Earth. This pissed me off mucho, because in the comics, it comes down with a space shuttle... led by Jameson's son. WHO WAS IN SPIDERMAN 2 (MJ's ex-fiance). I would understand the meteor more if the character hadn't been introduced... but why do this?

3) Timing. It dragged ALOT, spent way too much time showing Evil Peter Parker. What was with the dancing in the club? That could've been cut - spent more time on the villians.

4) Less is more. 3 villians should've been two... or even one, but they tried cramming way too much into one film. Venom is a really detailed character, they should've spent AT LEAST half a film on him.

5) Venom... was... terrible. So was Eddie Brock. No offence to Topher Grace, you're great in 70's Show, but you shouldn't have been cast as Eddie. He should've been a little more bulkier, abit more down-and-out too - he was way too happy for me. And Venom was alot more scary... Spiderman had nightmares about him, he was supposed to be a real mindf*ck, and they really buggered him up.

6) American flag scene. Pointless.

7) Kirsten Dunst can't act. Sorry, she just seems wooden to me. Like Keanu Reeves wooden.

8) The ending - won't give it away completely, but if you wanna take the risk reading this, its your own fault. The "You're my best friend" thing - too soppy. As was the Sandman thing - "Yeah, you killed me uncle and you've only just explained what happened, but what they hey - I don't need to think it over. Youre forgiven." And what was with the butler? He could've told Harry that AGES ago.

Sorry, this was an essay. But in all fairness, hats off to the SFX. And James Franco, the only one that could really act in that. And Bruce Campbell - god love you

It sucked. I was so disapointed. I mean, EMO spidey made me cringe. He looked EXACTLY like whatshisname from Good Charlotte. And when he trotted around town?! EW. And um, no development for Sandman eh? They ruined it.

Karla has mentioned almost all the opinions I had in mind. Venom is the second most strongest villian in spiderman, following Carnage. Yet, did you *really* find him a threat? Tsk.. it's pathetic, really. They've ruined a potential blockbuster. I suppose this is what happens when over-confidence of achieving success spreads through the cast and crew.

Nevertheless, is this the last of the spidey movies? I've got my money it

yea, so I liked the movie.

but it was really lame.

Evil Spidey was dancing around like an idiot... and Venom was scarey enough to be on the next telletubbie movie.

But it's spiderman.. and I'm an age old fan so I have to like it? haha

but as for how Venom was spawn... I had really hoped to see that come about in the comic fashion, but we don't always get what we want.

I hated all the close ups.. I feel like I know every pore on Toby's face now.

I thought the whole black goo thing was just too random and out there. It never really got explained, it was just another random thing that was attracted to Spidey for some unknown reason.

I was entertained by the movie, but it wasn't great by any means.

I think I 'enchanted it' (for lack of a better word) because in my mind I saw it happening how I thought it should? Or I took all the comics and the old shows and everything else and bound it all together to make this awesome Spidey movie in my head... haha I do that with alot of things... which is why I tend to enjoy movies that most don't.

Yea, if they had played it out the right way the goo would have come from space, and not so much a meteor that just happened to follow Parker, which more was because he was the 'at the scene' which it could have easy jumped on MJ while he was on the bike. And... there's the whole morph of Brock that they didn't explain. And haha yea... Brock was sposed to be a more bullish guy... not some squirt.

there are so many things to talk about with this movie.

I liked the first, didn't sit through to the end of the second and i have no desire to see the third one with Kirsten Dunst and her ugly troll face.

Can someone please tell me why they chose Maguire to play a superhero? He looks like a timid little girl, i've seen more meat on a sparrow's kneecap.

I'm surprised that everyone hates Kirstin Dunst. I wish I looked like her--I think she's gorgeous.

Maguire on the other hand...yeah can't understand why anyone would find him attractive.

Yeah same here, I find Kirsten Dunst pretty. I have no idea how some people call good-looking celebrities ugly.

As for Tobey Maguire. I think he was very well suited for spiderman's role. FYI.. Peter Parker's a geek; short, sorta skinny. Did you want Brad Pitt to act in spiderman or what? lolz

This movie was ok. I thought most of the lines were either really stupid or really predictable. I thought the part where he does his little emo hair thing was hilarious and my favorite part was when the green goblins son ate the pie and he said "it's so good" overall i'd say the movie just had a bad plot--but hey the action scenes were pretty cool i guess
