do you honestly believe that by knowing someone online you can know them completely? and for those of you who have met your 'partner' after a long time online, was it the same, or did you find you hardly knew them? i am really desperate to know... any help would be apprieciated!!

i think you can really know someone, it helps alot to talk on the phone, and to have alot of pictures. And of course the longer you talk and the more you talk the more you know them. And it also depends on how willing the other person is to let you know them. I feel that i know my LDR better than i know myself, hes always saying its creepy bc i kno what hes thinking or i know what hes planning, he says its impossible to surprise me LOL. he says i always know.
and if you asked me i could tell you anything about him, simple things or deeper things that he may not even admit to himself
so it is possible to know someone really well
i think in fact you can get to know someone better than if you met in normal circumstances. if you meet like normal, you concentrate more on doing things, going to movies, going to dinner, cuddling, w/e. you do that stuff more than you talk. but with an LDR the only thing you can do is talk, and listen, so you get to know them better. and i think i know my boyfriend better than my parents know e/o after 25 years of marriage. they dnt know e/o at all. its kind of sad

| i agree with xxxDARKIRISxxx on what she said. I havent metmy LDR boyfriend, but i know him so well, as he does myself. We always know what tha other is thinking or we say tha same things at tha same time, its crazy, and freaky. And in my point of view, i actually think that i know him more then i've ever known any of my boyfriends who arent LDR's, becuase tha onl thing you can do is talk and listen as xxxDARKIRISxxx said. Becuase when you are far away you concentrate on tlaking, but when you're not LD you concentrate on more physical things.

im a partygirl from finland...and im 16 (almost 17  ) years old.
i have a boy in slovakia...so the distance is about 1800 kilometers...and we really have hard time (specially now) we see each others once in a year...
but when i read all your stuff, (canada-england, new york-singapore) i think that this isnt so long way to go im so sorry to you, who will have to live so faraway from your lovers...its hard, i know.
lots of hugs to everyone, and i would love to have many frineds from here! (it doesnt matter where you live... )

I think it's very important to have met your loved one to endure a long-distance relationship. but it's still incredibly hard, especially for young couples, I would say. we've been separated for months now and are gonna meet again soon.
during those months we both were going out with other people as well which wouldn't normally be an indicator for a well going relationship. but for us, it turned out to be the pure contrary, nothing but physical attraction to those other people. one of the easiest ways to find out how much you care for the other, is to be confronted with a "possible partner". if he/she doesn't interest you at all... that's good, actually!
sometimes you just get to know that very special somebody you simply can't live without... sounds corny, but love really seems to cross all borders. and there's at least one positive aspect to l-d relationships. the passionate reunions  ...

| what a coincidence. I've been with my LD boyfriend for 1 year and 3 months as well. November 30th, 2002. And everything you said about how you've grown more in love with eachother, is the same with me. I think we're more in love than we would be in person, because in person you get sidetracked with things, but when you're long distant all you can do it talk, and learn more about eachother. It's amazing and I wouldnt trade ANYTHING for this, well other than being 'together'.
