The gunman responsible for at least the second of the two Virginia Tech attacks that claimed 33 lives to become the deadliest shooting rampage in U.S. history has been identified as Cho Seung-Hui, a campus student in the United States on a permanent resident visa.
Cho, the shooter was a resident of Centerville, Va with his family, but lived on campus at VT. There were two shootings on campus, both weapons found on Cho were used in both shootings so authories are assuming right now that he was the only shooter, but that he might have had help from others.
The Chicago Tribune reported that the note included a rambling list of grievances that railed against "rich kids," "debauchery" and "deceitful charlatans" on campus. The paper also reported that Cho died with the words "Ismail Ax" in red ink on the inside of one of his arms.
Quoting an "investigative source," the newspaper said Cho had shown recent signs of violent, aberrant behavior, including setting a fire in a dorm room and allegedly stalking some women, and that he was taking medication for depression. The Tribune also reported that Cho's family runs a dry cleaning business and he has a sister who atatended Princeton University. Cho and his family came to the United States in 1992, when he was 8 years old.
Cho was found amoung the student's he slain, believed to have ended his own life by shooting himself in the head. A list of the victims.

this is insane... there could be around 20 people dead right now? This uni had bomb threats called in recently.. do you think they aren't taking these threats seriously enough?
It's been a bad month, April always seems to be.. it's not even made it to the 20th. There was a kid with a bomb at my old highschool last week... and now this.
Evidently he shot a teacher, he's lined up some of the kids and shot them exacution style.. and he was actually searching for his girlfriend? This following that other guy that shot his girlfriend then tried to kill himself at the CNN building in ATL... a couple of weeks ago.
=( what's the world coming to? why are all of the warning signs being ignored?
there was a quote in a local news article I read the other day which is completely true :
"Look at the case studies, including Columbine. We find out time after time that a certain number of students knew something wasn't right before something ever happened."
something should seriously be done about this.

| O deer, so this is the same as me saying choke on your opinions, via a card isnt it really. Countless times you've mentioned accepting others, so why doesnt everyone just shut up and take mine.
And I know I wont accept anyone's opinion I dont like, because I'm an arrogant little troll, but seeing as everyone likes to be PC.. over the internet ugh. Just do as your told | 0 @ 30-04-2007 15:58 TheAnnoyance | 44,303 posts
| There is a mod that changes things, i've noticed it a few times.
Changes words to something a little different probably to see if anyone notices.
Because i read topics and they're fine, and i look in agian a lil while later and a word has changed slightly, and i know it wasnt that way before.
I dont know what mod it is, but i'd like too. lol | 0 @ 30-04-2007 16:14 Pandora | 22,852 posts

Shut up and take yours? I'm sorry, you do not own this forum, nor the people in it... and there won't be any just 'shut up and take it'. If you disagree with someone there are other ways of voicing it. Ways that are more respectful, less provoking and better all around for a discussion. You just come into every thread and try to pick a fight with the people in it.

| that kid does come in every thread and start stuff. i think hes jus bored and thats his entertainment. he started stuff wit me when i was freakin bout that piss test when my knee was messed up. (which still is. my doctor didn do anything jus gave me an appointment for 3 weeks later if it isnt any better which its not. so hes freakin stupid.) | 0 @ 30-04-2007 18:21 BynnaD | 2,839 posts
| Yeah, it's a very fullfilling life.
Sometimes I try to upset someone, mainly because it is funny. I'm very expressive, in a way you dont like because you dont agree with it, if you agreed it would be a different matter. If a mod say, favoured my opinion I wouldnt of been carded, in a perfect world of course | 0 @ 30-04-2007 18:24 Pandora | 22,852 posts

and you were defended by a mod, but that doesn't change the general opinion that your post was wrong.

| Danny, the point isnt that you try to get a rise out of people. i know where your coming from, i do the same. the point is that your doing it at the wrong time on the wrong issue. 33 people dying is not something to use to get under peoples skin. and your sarcasm wasnt sarcasm, it was only with the intent to piss someone off. sometimes its funny mind you, but not on this topic. go someplace else with it, like another thread or even another forum; leave it out of this one though.
and if your going to be a total dick to someone who doesnt agree with you, why do you even frequent this forum? seeing as how the majority here tend to not agree with what you have to say. | 0 @ 01-05-2007 16:00 BynnaD | 2,839 posts
| Your first paragraph, fair enough I'll hold my hands up to that. The second doesnt go down so well, so to quote a song, seeing as its a music forum. I frequent this forum... because I want too, because I want too. | 0 @ 01-05-2007 16:16 LDUB19 | 1,287 posts
| ur so immature. i agree wit mikey. if u wanna be immature go to a different forum and if u have to stay in this one do it in a different thread. this subject is sumfin personal to me cuz ive been there and i kno ppl there. the professor that was brave and stood infront of the door while his students jumped out the winow? i met him 2 years ago at my cousins graduation. and it makes me so freakin mad that u have to be immature in here. Grow Up! | 0 @ 02-05-2007 02:28 mikey_boy | 20,467 posts
| its not even about maturity. i would see visiting a forum if your going to get a rise out of people and it actually work. we all here are smart enough to understand your game. it doesnt work here. and you hardly contribute anything meaningful. when you, my hats off to you because its something worth reading. but that comes along hardly ever. so its like, why bother? besides you have the time to. which obviously you do, so frequent as much you like, but just dont be a total dick when at the improper time. | 0 @ 02-05-2007 08:47 Dagor | 33,246 posts
| Friendly warning: go and fight your personal fights somewhere else, but not in this thread. That goes for all of you.
This thread is about "Shootings at Virginia Tech" ... if this cannot be the topic, it might as well get closed. | 0 @ 08-05-2007 13:00 NightHobbit | 23,464 posts
| I don't think, however, that gun control is the issue here. If this boy did not have a gun, he could have made a bomb. He could have attacked students with a knife. Someone this disturbed was looking to take out his anger on the world. The gun may have made it easier, but we cannot say this wouldn't have happened otherwise.
let's place the blame where it belongs - with the person that committed this crime. Let's not try to point fingers at everyone else. | 0 @ 09-05-2007 01:18 AlmightyShmun | 1,189 posts
| Maybe, maybe not. Bombing may be a more efficient way to produce bodies, but the impulse that makes someone want to go room-to-room shooting people before they check out would not be satisified by a bomb. It lacks the immediacy and personal connection. We can't predict what he would've done without a gun....but he probably would've been a bomber? I think we're better off worrying about the multiple incidents of homicidal gun rampages in this country than hypothetical bombings that you think may occur if access to guns is cut off. I've heard some backwards defenses of the 2nd Amendment before, but "giving crazy people guns keeps them from getting bombs" takes the cake. |
