The gunman responsible for at least the second of the two Virginia Tech attacks that claimed 33 lives to become the deadliest shooting rampage in U.S. history has been identified as Cho Seung-Hui, a campus student in the United States on a permanent resident visa.

Cho, the shooter was a resident of Centerville, Va with his family, but lived on campus at VT. There were two shootings on campus, both weapons found on Cho were used in both shootings so authories are assuming right now that he was the only shooter, but that he might have had help from others.

The Chicago Tribune reported that the note included a rambling list of grievances that railed against "rich kids," "debauchery" and "deceitful charlatans" on campus. The paper also reported that Cho died with the words "Ismail Ax" in red ink on the inside of one of his arms.

Quoting an "investigative source," the newspaper said Cho had shown recent signs of violent, aberrant behavior, including setting a fire in a dorm room and allegedly stalking some women, and that he was taking medication for depression. The Tribune also reported that Cho's family runs a dry cleaning business and he has a sister who atatended Princeton University. Cho and his family came to the United States in 1992, when he was 8 years old.

Cho was found amoung the student's he slain, believed to have ended his own life by shooting himself in the head. A list of the victims.

this is insane... there could be around 20 people dead right now? This uni had bomb threats called in recently.. do you think they aren't taking these threats seriously enough?

It's been a bad month, April always seems to be.. it's not even made it to the 20th. There was a kid with a bomb at my old highschool last week... and now this.

Evidently he shot a teacher, he's lined up some of the kids and shot them exacution style.. and he was actually searching for his girlfriend? This following that other guy that shot his girlfriend then tried to kill himself at the CNN building in ATL... a couple of weeks ago.

=( what's the world coming to? why are all of the warning signs being ignored?

there was a quote in a local news article I read the other day which is completely true :
"Look at the case studies, including Columbine. We find out time after time that a certain number of students knew something wasn't right before something ever happened."

something should seriously be done about this.

i think he had a vendetta towards a particular person. sure, he hated rich kids, blah blah. but i think, when you watch his videos, he was doing this for one particular person. as a kind of pay back.

This is what happens when you make Asian small penis jokes.

We need to consider ourselves sort of lucky. He could have been non-Asian, which means he would have had more than 33% vision. Which means there wouldn't be any wounded, just dead.

Lol and this is why I love Mikey...because of page 3 where he puts the ever so arrogant and ignorant Danny in his place. I just knew he would comment on something that he knows nothing about.

its not so much he doest know about it, its his high and mighty demeanor. seriously, just leave it at the door. its not necessary when dealing with an issue like this.

Very true. They were unecessary snide comments that were also not accurate.

yah, snide is kind of an understatement. i dont know what it is but some people hailing from England are SO damn pompous (as are some Americans). Danny being one. its like, what the hell, dont look down on me like im a savage because i live in America. first off, this kid is one in a billion. and second, if you REALLY want to be technical, he's South Korean, he hails from Korea. so its not America's fault, per-say. which i dont even want to go down that road because i dont want this turning into a race in, at all. thats last thing thats needed.

It is simply tasteless, but enough about him.

I haven't seen the news at all today, but did they ever say why that one girl was the first target? Was he obsessed with her or something? I know he had previously stalked two girls before and they had to get restraining orders against him.

I heard it the other day, and I was shocked.
I still cant believe it happened. look at all the victims, they are the same ages as we are. thats crazy...
Too bad the sicko killed himself, he should have stayed alive and get tortured. we should have killed him slowly and painfuly. people like that dont deserve to be called as "people". he's an animal.
He actually planned every little detail for his massacre. killing 32 innocent people, I just cant understand how someone can even think about it.

Thats so horrible, I feel so sorry for the families, and the poor victims who died for no reason... jus tbecoz some sicko decided that he had the right to kill everything he saw.
I just can't stop thinking about that, it really influenced me.
Im so angry/shocked/sad.
How he succeeded to kill 32 people?! it probably took him a lot of time... why nobody stopped him?! how he succeeded to get into the uni with weapon?!

just so much questions with no answer.

Gun laws in America are slacker than most places, but someone who does something like this wouldn't let the law stop them buying guns off the black market anyway.

Anyway, on to my main point. Why are you all blaming other people? It wasn't the police's fault, or the university's fault, or anyone else's fault.

Anyone who's at or has been to university (college) will know how difficult/impossible it would be to inform everyone on campus of something like this.

Eh one of the major factors is the fact that they waited around 2 hours after the first shooting to even try to get in touch with everyone. Most people check their emails before heading to class... and the email that they did send was completely vague. I'm not saying it's all their fault, but they seriously dropped the ball on this one.

I know, and after it's all happened it's easy to say what they should've done, but it could've easily taken a couple of hours to deal with it all, phone the police etc. They've never had to deal with something like this before, it's understandable that they didn't know what to do.

I guess I just feel that by putting part of the blame onto other people, it's somewhat letting this bastard off the hook.

what i think a lot of people miss is that for the morning classes their, its a commuter campus, much like the school i go to. yeah, they didnt send an email out for 2 hours, but the fact is, even if it had a been an hour later, most students wouldnt have gotten it. i know from experience, as well as most of my friends, we dont check our school emails for 2 or 3 days at a time. also, most of the students would have been their on campus anyways taking that email thing in mind. they could have canceled classes but who would have known or ever thought he would kill 30 people over a half mile away?

yeah, you also hold home to the most obnoxious people on the planet earth .... and those redneck gangster chav kids. and what difference does it make if someone shoots another person, or stabs a person? it still is a crime. seriously, get off your high horse, England isnt as great as you think, and America isnt a wretched as you think.

I agree with Lital, as harsh as what she said was. Seriously, he's just such a piece of s---. I hate people who can't deal with their problems and end up as forked up as he was. And then say "oh people made me do this." Load of s---. It makes me angry. Weak.

ok i havent read all the responses so forgive me if this is the same. People are so quick to blame movies, video games, parents, or bullying for this kind of event. But that is just stupid. This kid was quiet and isolated from people his entire life even when he lived in Korea. 8 year olds(or however young he was when he still lived in Korea) may be mean but they arent mean enough to make somebody become this insane. So for me I do not think it was anything but the shooter himself. His inability to deal with the harsh realities of the world led him to an unfair hatred of the world and the people in it, which eventually led to him snapping. And as far as the schools response, yes i am aware that it took them so long, but what you gotta remember is that in any emergency situation communication has always been the downfall of things. Plus the fact that who would of thought the killer would take time off between shootings everyone thought it was just a murder suicide or that the killer has already left the campus. As a high school senior heading to college next year this concerns me b/c there are thousands of new people you know nothing about and what type of problems they have. But the biggest thing i am upset about is that it takes this kind of tradgedy for this country to stop fighting amongst itself. After this everyone was in unity there was no conflict between the democrats and republicans it was just unity for the first time since 9/11
