I managed to miss Glastonbury, V2002 and Reading/Leeds festivals (the 3 big UK festivals) this year because of exams/work/lack of money at booking time, so anyway, I wanna make up for it by going to as many live gigs as poss.
Was wondering if anyone had seen a particular band live that was great and if anyone had any recomendations at all, I could see if they were touring over here. I am into indie, hip hop, rock mainly.
Ally.
PS: I'll start it - best band I've seen live recently = The Strokes - must go see!

I just saw Mindless Self Indulgence last month and their really good live. The pit is somewhat on the rough side a bit.

Gnarls Barkley is really good live. That was kind of a surprise to me, cuz i really didnt imagine that their songs would be fit for a live but it was really well done.

Jason Mraz is also really amazing live. he really knows how to get the crowd going and the band is simply incredible live

I thought Brand New was awesome live. because Jesse Lacey looks so genuinely haunted and depressed and pissed off that...Lol, I don't know, see them live and you'll love it.

Dashboard is good, Chris Carabba sounds unbeleivable, you don't understand the ridiculous notes he hits. But he is cheesy and appeals to 13 year old girls which kinda takes away from it. Like the stuff he says is stupid in between songs.

All-American Rejects were really good, but The Starting Line who was before them, stole the show I though. The Starting Line wa sjust incredible, best band I've seen live. Not that I've seen a lot, but they were rad. AAR was really good though. The Format was meh, and the Gym Class Heroes weren't great, but their lead singer is a rela cool dude and talked between songs a lot.

Envy On the Coast was actually pretty decent opening for Angels and Airwaves. They stayed after the show and hung out with anyone who wanted to stay which was cool. The Sounds were really good I thought. Lol, their lead singer, I don't know her name, is awesome. So dirty sexy. Like humping the security guards and smoking and spitting on stage. gross yet appealing. Then Angels and Airwaves was just ok. I'm not into them so much, but they were just average

The best shows I've seen that have headlining band and aren't get togethers of multiple bands (Taste of chaos, Warped Tour, etc)
1) Slipknot with Killswitch Engage and Unearth
2) Alexisonfire with Cancer Bats and Attackinblack

Little Man Tate are brilliant live. They're a band from Leeds in the UK. Definitely worth seeing if you get the chance. The crowd is great and the songs are all singalongs and the band are cool too.

The Fratellis were pretty good too. The singer (Jon) has a great voice, and it's worth going just for a couple of thousand people singing along to Chelsea Dagger all together.

ive seen the format 3 times live and I think they're pretty swell. Anathallo is a really fun band to see live since theres like 9 people and all these crazy instruments--then the only other person I thought was great live was Billy Idol, he's pretty amazing.

Reel big fish puts on a great show... they're real fun and get the audience involved, plus their music is awesome. OAR is great too, especially when they start jamming.
