| First of all, Borat does not promote racism and sexism, it mocks those that do. As if you can't see that. Nobody believes the character to be believable.
Yes, the exploitation of those Romanian people was extremely wrong and should be apoligized and compensated for. But as far as I am concerned it was a documentary. It really did expose some of the good and bad parts of the american people and system, just with a comedic edge.

| but what most dont realize is that you are laughing at a person who has just exploited people living in poverty. Whats so funny about that?! And while he is raking in millions of dollars from us, those people are struggling to survive.
Cant you see the dehumanization of our society. What is funny about that?! And it doesnt matter if the comedian is English or American. What he put out was very derrogatory to races of people. If laughing at people making fun of religion, race, and sexuality I dont wanna laugh | 0 @ 14-12-2006 19:20 TheAnnoyance | 44,692 posts

none of the people in the film though were only sasha baron cohen were, the others were told it was a documentary for something else and didnt know he was in fact exploiting them for cinema. | 0 @ 15-12-2006 18:32 spanisheyes2 | 119 posts
| I think this film had the possibility to be funny and make fun of, not cultures nor genders nor religions, but the stereotypes and ignorance of those who have lieved in a bubble their whole lives...
I watched some of the previews and it looked really great, but I was really dissappointed. It wasn't all that funny and resorted too much to crude dumb humor just to please those who find something as dumb as a fart or a naked fat guy funny...
Still, take those parts out and there were still some pretty hilarious situations... | 0 @ 06-03-2007 17:33 TheAnnoyance | 44,692 posts

| I don't like Sacha Baron Cohen but this trip with him to the U,S, and A is awesome, and one mustn't forget that this is a parody you Borat is making fun of western prejudice against former USSR states and, doing so, reveals some really nasty things in the U,S and A or in many cases the whole western world.
Another little fact is that Cohen himself is a Jew, maybe not a believing but...
So don't be too hard on the displayed racism (from Borats side). | 0 @ 04-07-2007 21:31 Essi_X | 42 posts

| This movie could about be classified as satire.
Trust me, I am so against racism it's not even funny. (I especially get fired up when white men talk about the injustice that's done to them by affirmitive action.)
However, I think the point of this movie is to show how RIDICULOUS racism looks. |
