| A reaction to this message by FireWaterBurn :
Let me speak on behalf of the entire core forum population and say that the old LSI was a million times better than this one.
Nobody ever notcied there was a logo anyways, and nobody gives a shit about it. The improvements sounded good originally and I gave the new LSI a shot, but at some point I just have to concede and admit that it sucks. Hell, half the features don't work, nothing ever gets fixed.
Shouldn't have fixed something that wasn't broken
You should swallow your pride Ray and just change everything back to a few months ago.
From fact that you put your message in the layout topic, I guess you don't have a problem that I anser your message here in the forum. Well 'answer', you only fire a list of unmotivated statements to me without good argumentation. So what is it you want with this message, answeres, starting up a discussion???
I have absolutely no problem discussing things, you know me, I'm open to everything. The direction of the site is based on user input, I simply make what the audience wants, always has been, always will. I understand you have a problem with the last update. If you want to say something, be my guest lets talk about it, but your message is not about starting up a discussion, this is just a message to insult me. In your message you don't leave any room for me to answer; You come up with argumention that is mostly wayyy off the truth ("Nobody ever notcied there was a logo", "half the features don't work", "nothing ever gets fixed"). Then you feel it is necassary to use bad language ("shit", "sucks", "hell"). And most of all, you thing is is very needed to instult me directly ("swallow your pride"). What pride?? Because I am "too proud" to change it back because not everybody likes the new layout???? You cannot be serious.
I never ever have been insulted during my entire LSI life, but this message is by FAR the one that got the closest.
So let me do give you a response to your message. First of all your account is blocked. I made it my mission to fight against insults from members to other members. I don't tollerate this behavior, not from anybody. Neither from the 'core' forummers, especially not from the 'core' forummers, because they are an example for all new members and don't have to think they can do and say everything they want. A long membership and/or large forum post count doesn't make you immune for warnings, penalties or warnings.
Secondly, try to understand what LSI is really about. It seems you are a forummer who doesn't know much about the rest the site has to offer. Take a look there and find out the new things and also try to find the stuff that "doesn't work" according to you. I'm sure you'll see it is not "half" of the new features.
Last, som facts. 1) The visitor numbers increased 30% to 650,000 unique visitors a day since the last update, which shows the last update has been an inprovement to the site. 2) I do work 24/7 on the site and keep in mind it is just me, not a 25 ppl crew on the other site. So maybe updates and developments don't go as fast as other sites, I fix things on the site one by one. If you really pay attention you see minor or major changes every week.
Ok, done.
Comment, reactions... I'm happy to hear them, as long as it is with respect.
Adios,
Ray |

| if they make it like the chat ops.. everyone who is on the forum for any amount of time will be a mod.. and that's bogus.
it doesn't take alot of people to do the job.. just a few people that will actually do it.
I can't remember how he picked the first ops.. I don't remember if it was a vote or if he just picked us..
We used to edit out the swearing ourselves ... replacing words with other ones.. made a game of it.. I guess that was back when things were actually fun around here.
And.. there are plenty of new members every day, but they just don't care about the 'forum life' as it once was... they answer polls, post pictures, write blogs, and comment on artists.. they don't care about the forum as itself.

| That's not true, not everyone who goes into the Chatroom is a mod, everytime I go in, there are usually a couple ops, which is good, even though there are 40 ops, it's not like they are on all at the same time, it wont be that way in the forum either. | 28-11-2006 17:31 Dagor |

| well, i was referring to the ones who use the forum ... there used to be plenty new ones ... internet thingies like forums are shortlived, there is a constant change. If you don't get fresh blood, it dies. | 28-11-2006 17:36 TheAnnoyance |

| i dont think the forum mods should be like the chat ops.
to be honest that isnt run amazingly well. no offense to Phill.
people who want to be one get too, then it builds up to a group of friends who have got it. and then they will just get more people they know to get op, by all of them giving phill a good word about them, so it seems they would be a good choice from many peoples point of view, and they get it. and also some of the chat ops being as young as 12...
anyway, mod shouldnt be given to just anyone. only people who everyone thinks would be a good choice.
and no, i'm not saying here that i think i should. for people saying that. with my past record i dont see that hap'nin anyway. lol.
but i think they should be updated. the current people used to be a list of very active users, but not its outdated. and needs to be restored to current, reliable, users. | 28-11-2006 17:38 PinkFloyd |

| True, I noticed one Chat Op who joined 2 weeks ago, and he's an op? I really think that seniority is important, knowing the ropes. | 28-11-2006 17:39 Dagor |

ehh the chat as 40 ops most of which are the ones starting the all the trouble.. one of the most known out of them is a online whore cyber queen.. and it's insane .. they are these crazy kids that kick you for nothing.. blah I duno.. in the chat it's not the most capable.. its more 'how many people they got to tell phil they would be a good op'

| *shrugs* im not going to correct it...i figured he put that in to prove a point...so fine let it be his point
the fact is not that many people curse on this site
when i see i see it i edit it rather than card it...cause most people get the hint if you edit their posts afterwards...plus i'll usually send a pm if the kid has less than 30 posts
the fact is the rules arent broken that often on the forum
i mean other than randomness which i kinda look at like las vegas
las vegas breaks all sorts of U.S rules, legalized gambling, legalized prostitution, all night bars....peple go to las vegas get a get away from the rules...so no i dont care if someone doesnt bither to edit something out in ran domness more often than not...cause i kinda look at it as the vegas of the forum
it mostly senior members that use that thread anyways
not that i care for the ban on cursing but a rule is a rule
anmd if you think im doing a lacklustre job...then tell me, tell me how to improve on it...i mean i still like coming here...but with rent and school...sometimes modding takes a backseat to real life ya know | 29-11-2006 06:34 Stanley | 13,928 posts
| let me preface this by saying that i have already posted about my thoughts on the current state, and future, of lsi. it's on page 9 i think.
all i really wanted to add is that if anyone sees something they think needs a mods attention then they can feel free to send me a message and i will take a look at it. i know i very rarely post anymore, but that doesn't mean i have forgotten about this place. i check my messages at least once a day(unless i have gone home for the weekend). | 29-11-2006 07:20 vandy |

| ehh.
i think the site has good AND bad parts to it. personally, im not a fan of the new design. I just cant get used to it, i much prefer the older one.
because of that, ive been logging on a lot less than i used to. these days, i log on once every month, or so? if that. And even then i very sparingly post on the forum. i used to be on every single day. lsi used to be my first port of call, the very first site id go to, even before i checked my emails.
i understand that lsi is more than just a forum, initially it was made for the lyrics, but the forum became a big part of the site and it was a proper community. people were friendly, and i had a good time virtually every time i logged on, but now it just seems that new members are desperately sought after and the old members are forgotten. its like a Quantity rather than Quality of people ray wants.
idk. i'm just saying i prefer the way things used to be around here. ive lost touch with most of my regular friends, and when i log on theres hardly anyone i know online. its just sad that the history of the site is dissolving, and its turning into a new site with new members registering, logging in, giving their random opinions and then disappearing, and not coming back.
i dont have anything against ray or anyone here. Its rays site, and obviously he can do what the hell he wants with it. but i dont recall ever giving my opinion to a new layout, or new features. i think i wouldve said keep the layout and the design the same, because thats how i saw "lsi".. lol.. whenever i thought of lsi, i thought yellow. it was unique.. now its just like any other music forum.
and i do think banning Curt was a little extreme, Ray. You say you go completely by user input? So what was Curt's post? Yes it may have been a little rude, but at the end of the day its a bit of criticism and he was the one who had the balls to actually go ahead and say what most people around here were thinking anyway. Its like i said before, Curt was one of the well known characters around, one of the ones that kept lsi alive. And by deleting him, it shows that the old members that used to be so loyal to the site that they would log on EVERY day without fail, are being forgotten about and pushed away, along with the old site.
thats all i have to say really.. | 02-12-2006 05:00 Bucephalus |
