Like what do the lines, letters, and numbers mean?

1/e = high e string (the thinnest string on your guitar)
2/b = string below G
3/g = string below D
4/d = string below A
5/a = string below E
6/E = low E string the thickest and lowest in pitch

these lines represesnt the string of your guitar

b---1----------------------
g---0----------------------
d---2-----------------------
a---3--------------------------
E---------------------------
the numbers are the frets you are suppose have your fingers on

they can be played together (as shown with the C chord above)

or broken like so (taken from Metallica's Seek and Destroy)
