I'm sure everyone has heard about the girl that has sued MySpace. I, myself, am not a fan of MySpace, but I think this is really getting way out of hand.

Here is the story in more detail.

I don't understand how it is MySpace's fault because she gave out her phone number and information to a total stranger. Myspace claimed that they are dependent on the safety of their members, which, of course is understandable, but what ever happened to people being in control of their own safety? We can't have people looking out for us, and don't tell me that it's okay, because she is young. Everyone knows that the internet can be a dangerous place.

The suit alleges that MySpace has "absolutely no meaningful protections or security measures to protect underage users"

It's called protecting yourself, and whatever happened to parents? Where were the parents in this whole situation? I'm not saying the parents need to know everything that the child does, but if a kid is giving out their information to some stranger, they probably weren't raised by the best parents.

I'm sure people are going to disagree with me. But it seems that everyone is suing everyone these days, you have to look out for yourself.

I'm also not saying that the alleged man that sexually assulted her should run around free, he did lie about his age and other personal information, which is illegal to do on the internet.

Eh, now I am just rambling, it just bothers me that she's suing them for like $30 million dollars, all because she's an idiot.

Here is the story in more detail.

Anyway, tell me what you all think.

Yeah, but websites like Myspace get loads of money for adverts.

They easily have $30 million, and then some.

It's a long article, which says that MySpace has been valued at $3 billion.

You know what I just thought of.

I just realized that someday MySpace is going to be written about in textbooks, and we can all say, 'We've been there, we were around when that site got started!"

My God. That's amazing. And shocking. Haha.

Textbooks....? I can't see anything internet site related being in there, but who knows. I wouldn't think too much of it if I saw it in a book though.

No, no, think about it. Think about, in the future, it will be there. I know it, because it will be historical then.

Well it does strike me as odd that the things that are happening now, people will be learning about in years to come in their history lessons. Kinda cool though

I've said it before...Myspace shouldn't ever be liable for anything. It's not a mandatory site to join.

...and MySpace is so freakin huge. ...and all it is is a few pictures and HTML code. It's ridiculous how huge it got. It isn't even easy to use like Frontpage. It amazes me how huge it got.

She won't win. She and her family just came down with a severe case of Stupid. It'll pass, given time, medication and therapy.

I hope, before the girl's parents helped her file a lawsuit, that they beat her and took away her computer access too. And then beat her again.

I mean disciplined her.

myspace is so pointless. instead of spending hours on end making a myspace and messaging people, why not actually go and hang out with your friends. makes no sense to me.

about this chick who's sueing myspace. she's just wasting her time. she's not gona get a dime out of it. the court may rule that tom make myspace a safer place for kids, thats about it.

people are such idiots these days, it just amazes me.

you know this also kinda reminds me of the lady that sued mickey'ds for making her fat.
pretty much the same thing as this myspace issue

I'd also like to add that they have a safety tips page so really it's her own fault for being such an amazing idiot.

Why do parents always blame websites for their under age children's stupidity......? Everyone knows that there are predators and whatnot on-line especially on websites like myspace....and anyone and everyone should know that you don;t give your address or number out online.... I outta sue that stupid girl for being stupid.
