| Hoo boy.
So, Venezuela's in hot water with the U.S. again, and I'm surprised nobody's posted about this. For the love of God, people: Americans here! Run for local office! I'm going to, and soon.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has cited Venezuela as the region's biggest problem and has called on US allies to mount a united front in dealing with it.
And that is one of the most singularly ominous things I've ever read. |

| * offtopic : Too tired to comprehend this thread.
I just wanted to say that you should make a Colbert thread featuring those videos. Or I will tomorrow.
I just wasted space.

| Heh... The only reason why the US is trying to call on more allies is because Iraq was (and still is) a complete fiasco.
I can see the US drumming up support easily over Iran because they've admitted to enriching uranium (which could be used for nuclear reactors or perhaps nuclear warheads if it was being enriched enough). But Venezuela, a country that we hear little about? Looks like the warmongers in the US cabinet are getting deperate for excuses. | 0 @ 17-05-2006 15:11 Pandora | 22,886 posts

Yes, God forbid we ever speak out against the government. Hey, maybe if we ignore the problem, it'll go away! Current events are depressing, as we all know. | 0 @ 17-05-2006 18:11 dark_me | 2,270 posts

| Well, Mexico does have a heavily contaminated water supply as a result of U.S. mistreatment and Mexican governmental negligence. We pay Mexico, and various other "non-industrialized" nations to accept our waste. Aren't we lovely? | 0 @ 17-05-2006 18:19 dark_me | 2,270 posts

ha.. flooding a forum with anti american government threads only leads to the same arguement over and over again, it doesn't change whats going on.
everyone just wants to complain about what's going on... there isn't even a start at an opinion of what to change.
If america would quit trying to control every other country and work to help build them... immigrants wouldn't be running from their awful homelands.. the US government would be rid of their ideas that we are the biggest and the best.
It's all about pride... the US thinks they need to have control of everything... the Latin countries wouldn't accept our help anyway because we are the ones that have pretty much put them there... too prideful... no one understands the concept of working together to achieve a better future for all.. it's about selfish wants of each country that consumes and destroys... heh and Europe is just sitting back waiting for America to ruin itself.. godspeed and get us from this mess.

| I make these threads for the sake of hopefully educating at least a few people and getting them upset enough to work for change. Don't push blame on me; I'm one of the few people left in this Godforsaken country fighting for a positive change. I only bitch online because it draws attention to what's going on. | 0 @ 17-05-2006 19:26 FadeAway13 | 105 posts
| no one is blaming you for anything, save acting like you are the only one in the country that cares about how bad things are getting.

| Shmun - what do you do for a living? I've been curious about that ever since you started flooding the forum with these "America is evil the world is going to blow up" threads.
Yes these issues are important, people should be concerned and be working for change.
But...
This is a music forum first and foremost. Not a politics/current affairs forum. People want to talk about music here. Yes there are different categories (like this one), but the main point of this forum is music - don't forget that. | 0 @ 18-05-2006 02:24 asmaangel407 | 414 posts

The forum isn't exactly music only. Sure the website is a lyrics site. But how many categories do we have that aren't music related? Yeah lots. He can make as many threads on politics as he wants. And if you don't care just ignore it =)

I'm glad (and surprised) that a few people showed up in my defense, but I will say that she does have a very valid point. Fact is, I've contributed very little to the musical sections of the board, and with 500+ posts, I should surely have something in here. So yes, she's fully justified in bringing that up, and I'll be sure to add more to the music whatnot.
As for my occupation, I'm a substitute teacher, part-time secretary, and the rest of my time is usually spent at school working for a higher degree. | 0 @ 18-05-2006 16:41 mounstrito | 796 posts
