2,609 posts	both AFI and Eighteen Visions sound like theyve hit the all time low and have gone to the pop sound. "Victim" and "Tonightless" in my opinion are absolutely horrible, doesn't sound like them at all. Obsession was a good CD but they used to be really good. then AFI with "Miss Murder" that's even worse. it's like all these bands are going pop or something. i usually like a change but seriously...

6,740 posts	Most bands go commercial and mainstream as they get older. Thats why so many bands have classic albums and so many hardcore fans go on about how they've sucked since X album. It sucks, but it happens I havent been into metal for much longer than 2 years, so I've not had a big problem with it. Yet

2,609 posts	yea.. they dont get sold out but they wanna get more fans so they change and sometimes they change too much and now i dont like it especially for those 2 bands. even papa roach, i really dont like getting away with murder because i realized anyone can write those lyrics

3,451 posts	I think it's also as people get older they mellow out more, so they're not going to be as interested in the kind of music they were playing when they were younger. They're not as angry, or just don't care as much, or are finally happy or whatever so their music is going to reflect those changes in their personality and their life.

2,609 posts	its not just the screaming though.. listen to even Love in Autumn compared to the newer songs. or songs from Obsession to now, it sounds like pop. and AFi they were punk then they got kind of gothic n now its like poppp music n he screams in the song but really bad

2,609 posts	with all honesty though, im sure after a while ill get more used to it and listen to it once in a while... eighteen visions. i listen to the most random music from: avenged sevenfold, eminem, atreyu, bubba sparxxx, city and colour, nsync, alexisonfire, kottonmouth kings etc. but now, i dont know about them

3,451 posts	There's no reason why a band can't change its style though. Just because they might have started out by releasing a metal record doesn't mean they have no right to release anything else other than metal records from then on. One of my faves bands - Shihad - started out metal, then changed to rock, went pop for a bit and then back to rock. Why? Because they wanted to explore different musical directions. And they have every right to do that!

In your first post in this thread you said you usually like a change - doesn't sound like you do... I do agree with one thing you've said though - about a band who used to be metal changing to pop (which they have every right to do whether you think it's stupid or not) but still claiming they're metal. If they're obviously pop they should admit it - it's not like they're admitting to murder or something. They've just changed direction!

3,451 posts	Yes, if it was in real life. But this is just a forum. I'd just switch off the computer and do something else. It's not a big deal. I wouldn't get all upset and worked up about it. Tabitha is not attacking you, she's asking you to explain and justify your opinions. If you can't do that then your opinions aren't worth anything...
