| Just thought you all ought to know, guitar tabs are ILLEGAL and are an infringment of copyright law. Considering the site you are on, I must figure you are music lovers. Respect the rights of the bands you support.

| You find it funny man? I for one, do not. I love music, and as a musician myself I hate when artists are not given the credit they deserve. Tabs are not, in most cases, released by the artists and are therefore copyright infringement. Look it up. Y'all should really get educated about a topic before you start promoting it. | 28-04-2006 00:24 Pandora |

| Don't you think that artists would get satisfaction in knowing that there are people who want to learn their songs, even with the use of tab? I'd like to think so. I don't see why guitar tabs are illegal. | 28-04-2006 00:25 Mosh4Jesus | 77 posts

| If a certain band does not want it's lyrics/tabs or whatever on this site, they will let the webmaster know.
I know there are a few bands here that don't allow their lyrics shown, I'm sure the rest don't really give a shit, otherwise they'd say so and their lyrics would also be unviewable. | 28-04-2006 00:26 Pandora |

haha do you think some joe blow guy and his garage band are going to rip a megadeth song and no one know it?
I don't think it seriously hurts anyone or anything to have tabs/lyrics up online

| True, artists would like people to learn their songs, but there are resources for that; legal resources. Like, purchasing sheet music for instance. | 28-04-2006 00:27 Pandora |

| Most of those artists today got where they are by learning the music of their idols. They should be flattered by people trying to play their music. | 28-04-2006 00:28 FireWaterBurn | 28,885 posts
| Too bad tons of famous musicians probably downloaded and used tabs illegally...

| And what if someone can't afford to purchase those song books? Have you seen how expensive they are? I blew $60 on a Metallica music book, when I could've looked at it for free | 28-04-2006 00:29 Mosh4Jesus | 77 posts
| Someone already said that. Yes. But there are legal ways to do that, ways that give the artists deserved compensation for their work. | 28-04-2006 00:30 Pandora |

| haha and the funny thing is... most musicians play by ear... like saturday night I was at a mates house and he was pulling some pearl jam out of his ass.. he didn't need tabs... if you know what you are doing you can just pick it out.
you going to pour oil down their ears just because they can pick out the tune?

| I think bands don't give a damn about people learning how to play their songs with tabs online. They may even think it's cool.
Some bands have their tabs at they're official website for everone. Tabs being illegal is ridiculous. | 28-04-2006 00:31 Mosh4Jesus | 77 posts
| Funds are an issue for me too, man. But, that doesn't mean that the artist should have to sacrifice for your financial shortfall. Anyway, most people who play instruments can pick up the chords and such by listening to it. | 28-04-2006 00:31 FireWaterBurn | 28,885 posts
| Ok..
I agree, it is illegal...

| Hmm, you can buy cd's, t-shirts, hoodies, keychains, concert tickets.... Does a guitar tab realllly make that much difference? It's just the record companies way of getting more money. I doubt the artist really has anything to do with it. (unless of course the artist is Lars Ulrich, that's a whole different story) | 28-04-2006 00:33 Mosh4Jesus | 77 posts
| You want me to leave for saying something that's true? I wasn't telling anyone to stop doing anything. That isn't my place. I just figured it ought to be said. | 28-04-2006 00:35 Pandora |

Exactly.
Bands have money, come on. And people learning their tabs online is not taking away their credit, it's more of a way to show how good their music is, good enough to learn it. It even shows respect.
I am taking this way too seriously. |
