| some one tell me what it really means to be a goth. what seperates goths from other people? and what's the difference between a goth and a person who just wants to be a goth.

| I like to wear black. Black is one of my favorite colors. I tend to stay away from people. I like horror movies. I have OCD and depression and I've seen someone about it. In fact, I even used to cut myself. Ooh, I guess that makes me a goth, right?
I agree with that "jazz" person. Goth is simply a label. You can't just classify a person into a group like goth, punk, prep, ect. the same way you can classify an animal into a species. A label can only go as far as an opinion. There really isn't a "definition" of goth.

| Goths like gothic music, gothic arts and architecture. They like black colour and middle ageiously (also black) looking clothing. They are often melancholic and intravertic (sp?). Goths are creative people and they like to philosophate (sp?).

| Goth is simply just a form of labeling. Just like punk. If you dress however you do because it expresses how YOU feel or what YOU personally like then you are your own person. In that case it doesn't matter what other people think your "stereotype" is. To be what most people think about goth, or punk, or any other label you would have to be that label. It would make you the same as "all the other goths/punks/ etc. If you happen to dress what common society would define as goth because you just happen to like the colour or whatever then good for you! However, if you simple wear it because you think it's cool or because you want to be like everyone else then I would suguest that you develope your own personality.

It also depends on certain people's definitions of the label. True goths to me wouldn't even really consider themselves gothic. They just think of themselves as being themselves.
