Do rabbits and hamsters get along?

I'm asking this because I have a hamster and am going to get a rabbit. Of course they won't be in the same cage or anything like that, but I'm wondering if they would get along if they were out of their cages next to each other.. like on the kitchen floor or living room. Are they known to fight or are they neutral about each other? I know hamsters get along with guinea pigs just fine, but what about hamsters (for short periods of time)? I don't want to risk them fighting/hurting each other. Any information would be great.

My sister kept a rabbit and two guinea pigs together in the same hutch for several years. Never had a single problem with them all living together. In fact, the guinea pigs whined a lot when they were separated from the rabbit... We had to put them back together again to stop the whining

I know guinea pigs and rabbits can be together just fine... they're even together in the petstore I will be getting my rabbit from. But I'm not sure about hamsters. Hamsters are different than guinea pigs, so I don't think I can compare them. My hamster is small too, and a rabbit could easily kill it if it was aggressive towards it, but I don't know if rabbits are aggressive, especially since they wouldn't be in a confined cage together or anything. I would like them to get along considering I am only getting one rabbit and I only have one hamster, so I hope they are friendly so I can put a gate up on my kitchen and let them wander together and get some excercise, but I don't know if that's safe to do.

when i was at nursery they had a rabbit and a guinea pig in the same cage, and they constantly had fights with eachother, and the rabbit hurt the guinea pig and drew blood on its skin so it had to be separated.

the only way you can know is to introduce them together. if you see any signs of violence, it wont work, but if not they should be fine.

it just depends, some get on, some dont. my guinea pigs are fine with my friends rabbit

Hamsters can be very aggressive little things... Especially the males. Very territorial. Hamster breeders know to put the male into its own cage after the female gives birth - otherwise the male will kill the young

My hamster is a female, and she's very docile and sweet to people. Females can be aggressive to other hamsters though, because if you put the male into the females cage to breed, the female will be extremely territorial and will attack the male.

it is a joke. When I first visited the site last February, the "eat date" was May 12, 2005. And before it had a thing where you could donate money, but if you went to it and actually tried to donate money, it didn't work.

I don't know, but if they breed you might end up with a Hobbit!

It's a weird habit ... having hamsters and rabbits together

(inspired on Danny's comment)

I'm pretty sure they share a joint now and again.

I don't think you should worry about them fighting but about the bunny humping the hell out of your hamster.

Poor poor hamster.

The rabbit might eat on, or stand on it, and it would die!
