ever since i've been coming here(since i was 11/12, im now 15) i have noticed how dam naive and sheltered the peple here generally are. I think its a dumb idea that swearing is not allowed, and that any othe rprofanities are completely taboo. I dont feel teh need to edit myself every time i come here, just because its "the rules" I really do not see a reason for this particular rule. Some one explain. Without calling me names, or slaggin gme at all, since this is an opinion, and im being completely civil.

haha. Thats the worst attempt at a rebuttal i've ever seen in my days. You sound like you're living is a fekking disney movie.
The other two percent that think the rules don't apply to them

What nonesense and propaganda. One trick to win someone over is to not tell them what they thinnk, feel, or believe. Keep that in mind

You might as well get use to controling yourself.

You'll have to do that in life when you grow up.

Go into work and start using the F word and you'll be fired or won't go anywhere.

If you can't think of any way to express yourself, get over it, it's no one's fault but your own.

You chose to be part of a forum, and the rules come with the pleasure.

if you didn't like the rules, then why did you bother signing up?

I've already mentioned that it is almost acceptable in society. In teh right situations, even on the workforce, it can be candid and comedic, and help you bind to your work mates. When it comes to things like board meetings, thesis presentation, or whatever else you need to do to acheive your success, one should be able to think on their own and pick their moments.

get used to it, you aren't achieving anything at the second, and you will never be able to change the rules, only ray does that.

this thread subject really surprised me!!!

do we need to justify the need or want to read something nice and decent???

do we need any more anger in any place??

do u honestly LIKE it when you read a thread that is filled with all these swear words that u feel like you're sitting in a literary sewage with all kinds of dirt and debris falling on you???

is it CIVIL to swear and pronounce profanities everywhere???

mankind has spent so much time and work on these generations that we dont want to fall low... even if that falling was of a moral quality...

how do u expect peace and love to come to earth when we dont care about our language and what we say? when we dont respect and admire the fact that when there are MILLIONs of illiterate ppl dying to learn, we abuse our privilage in such a disgusting way???

U demand to have the freedom to swear??? just what kinda person are you???

this is not about being pious or holy place. it is abt respecting yourself as a human being and trying t present it in a most CIVIL (again a key word) way.

I dont even understand swearing in MUSIC and it honestly makes me mad that we feel the need to have filth coming out of our mouthes to attract attention to us!!!

now i know ppl do swear... all types of ppl. i am one of them, but i usually apologize when saying it in public. it is something we grew used to... hearing it from ppl and the media, you gotta ick it up at ssome stage! but when given the opputunity to EDIT my language and make sure that is decent, i seize that oppurtunity!!!

No, it isn't. Swear at work and you get fired. At school you get suspended. In public and you get frowned upon. it isn't big and it isn't clever, so why don't you grow up and realise that swearing will never be acceptable?

oh my god, you people are so ****ing closed minded it hurts.

Wait till you get out in the ****ing owrld, and see how much a **** hole it really is. This is where swearing is not necessar but i am using it. Consider this my leaving note. What the *** is up with kids who are so into being these pretty little angesl> its like, you wont be assertive, or outgoing, so you probbaly wont get jobs you want, or meet people you might enjoy the company of, but are just a little different.Sure you can probably accept people like this because you are obviously, decent, and nice people.
Well its been fun here, 4 years is along time and you really get to know some people. I've had laughs, tears, and wanted to hang myself in the time ive been here, but all in all im glad it happened. (what a movie guy)
ANYWAYS, **** THIS IM OUT NIGSTYLE!

I think swearing is ok when it's used in the right way (i.e. not insulting others or offending people or w/e). But heyyy, rules are rules. Swearing offends some people and some people just plain don't like it, therefore we have that rule.

Like I said when you grow up you'll know how the world really works. My company doesn't permit it. I have wrote up an employee for using the f word in front of a woman's kids.

I've met and spent time with everyone up to vp's and none of them swear while working.

You're not conviencing anyone, just trying to justify yourself.

honestly i dont see where he intends to go with this arguement!!!

and it isnt just abt RAY deciding to change the rules or not!!

as mentioned, 98% of members accept or at least ABIDE by the rules...

it's just so sad

its not just about the kids that come on here is it though, swearing also affects children AND adults..even people my age and older can be offended by swearing. i know a lot of people who never swear, and swear words that are used offend them in some way.

i personally dont get offended by it, but nor do i support it. I think Ray has every right to ban it on the site. Theres just no need for it

there is also no need to use the word scrotum. Which is directly a body part, that people are uncomfortable with. I dont see anyreason that the word '****' should be excluded, and not scrotum.
If you are going to exclude "swear" words, then excluded these:

*insert list of crude references*

.....i could on for a while.
My point is, these words are all equally, if not, more offensive to those that find them so.
A system which wil exclude the use of words, which dont even have to be used in an offensive manner.

And, plese stop replying in such a childish, and ignorant manner, Please actually adress what im saying rather than replying "swearing is bad, and you're a meanie."....there is less of a need for that, than swearing.

Swearing is generally regarded as impolite and crude. It is also what many people use when they realise that they have nothing else to say to further their points of view.

Also, if you look at the forum "rules" you'll see that they're only the basic guidelines set out by basic netiquette, which you'll find that you already agreed to abide by when you agreed to pay for your internet access through your ISP (check out the various terms and conditions that ISPs make you agree to when you use their service).

Haven't you heard? Glow child is god reincarnated. He owns everyone at singing (but he's a bass player OH NOES), and is ever so modest about it. Anything we say to him can and will be used against in the court of law.

ive always wondered the same thing except not about a site, but about life in general u kno how can one word hurt sumbody more than another if i call u an ASS(u get pissed) or a FREEZER(u think i need medication) but ther both words neither hurt u more than the other... but i guess society has labeled these words as 'mean' and 'rude' so evry1 just goes with the flo and doesnt want it to change, like they said its worked so far....

In general, everyone should try to be polite. There are polite ways to say things which may not be polite in themselves. You wouldn't want anyone to be rude to you, after all... So if you're rude to others they will be rude back to you

We're not allowed to swear? ****. I've launched at least one borderline-pornographic tirade a week here.
