When this post was first created, a girl named Baileysmummy was making tons of threads entitled "what do you think of Irish people?" or "what do you think of Italians" etc...so I (vandy) decided to create something a bit contraversial...a "what do you think of Catholics?" discussion topic. Well, it evolved into this, a huge discussion of Catholicism, so Ally changed the title to fit it when she was the lone mod in this category. I decided to add in this explanation, so that no one thought that I thought that Catholicism was a joke or a fad.

why not? it seems to be the fad lately.

i was catholic, so i like them fine. i go to a catholic school.

i don't think that you should judge a person by their religion or race, but by their worth and honor.

I'm Catholic too. Not that I really follow or have any faith toward it, or any other religion. But my grandma made me go through all the rituals when I was small: baptism, first communion, confirmation, etc...

I don't know... Catholics have changed and are totally fine now, but in history we learnt about the Roman Catholics and they have this Index, which is books people are not allowed to read if they are of this religion, because they are evil and not suitable and stuff (it mustn't exist anymore). Anyway, on this Index was the Brothers Grimm's version of Little Red Riding Hood, because the girl takes some alcohol to her sick grandma. Obviously it's not the same anymore, lol, but that is pretty weird, I have to say. I believe in God, but I am Lutheran- my school is multidenominational so I agree with lots of them.

The Catholic church has been responsible for some truly terrible things in the past, but then, so have most figures of power.

I think Catholics can be very non-politcally correct at the best of times, but I bear no grudges!

I personally cannot even begin to understand religion or blind faith, but each to their own! We all have our different ways of living our lives .

I have nothing against Catholics except the ones that tell me what I should do and think and 'look down' on me for having differing views. Luckily i havent met many like this so on the whole Catholics are ok.

yeah, Vandy is the best example of what a 'good' catholic is!!! If you know her you hardly can have anything against catholicism!!!

And as Ally said, Church has done bad things in the past, but ever since State & church separated, things got well! In the past the Church was more politics than religion, ut you totaly can't compare it with now, nor with the 19th century or so!!
some people I know are anti-catholics, cause they started the crusades!! What a stupid reason!! the crusades had hardly anything to do with religion!!
