| I got pretty far in a book once ,a good 160 notebook pages in, though I never came up with a good ending. I am still working some out though, but if I may give some advice if you want to write a novel definently do some brainstorming and plot mapping, I just started writing but that gets a little challenging, though it was kind of fun since 90% of the time I didn't even know what was to come next . | 09-07-2005 09:55 HannahC | 4,757 posts

| i've recently started writing one as well, and i'm enjoying it so much.
The idea of plot mapping is good, it really helps, because them you've got aims and you'll find your story slots together a lot more effectively.
I think it's important to write down anything that comes into your head, so if you're serious about this, i'd advice taking a little notebook around with you, so that if something happens to pop into your head you can write it down.
For me, i have tried to stick to topics i know a lot about whilst also trying to challenge myself. Being 17, most of it is challenging, so i'd imagine it'd be a lot more so for an 11 year old.
With all my characters, there's a little bit of me in each one, so it adds that person touch. I've always been into poetry and stuff and i like writing things that touch people. and i think that should be the main aim of a book.
Your readers should fall in love with a character, or want to be their best friend. Parts of your book should make them cry, make them happy, make them scared.

| I have too recently started writing a book about a fresh out of high school couple that was together all through high school breaks up, she runs away, her parents die, she starts using drugs, tries to get her boyfriend back who is trying to get married, and ends up pregnant. | i think that if you want to write a book, you should use your own creative material... if not, you wont have the total satisafection of making (or writing) it all alone... | 08-12-2005 07:05 Shaz13 | 384 posts

Writing mystery or adventure stories is what I think alot of pple would like. It captivates them.
Me, personaly, I think you should write about sumthin in the medevil times. You can put alot of action in there.
* offtopic : Oh, and by the way, to all u pple that said she shoudn't be writing if she comes on here to get ideas: Thats a great thing to do, she's getting pple's ideas of of what would be great thing to write about. | Do it! and best fo luck, I've thought about it so many times, but then never really commited, do it, even if it's just for yourself | 23-12-2005 07:49 Walker_Cyrmych | 220 posts
| my advice on topic, ignore everyone. just write about something that interests YOU, so you'll enjoy writing it, which will make it easier to write as well as more interesting for those that read it, and it will have your personal touches in every aspect of the story. Or you could just dramaticize your life, making your everyday problems somehow threaten the world as we know it. | 31-12-2005 10:17 kanimani | 19 posts
| well i don't think the age really has anything to do with it i mean its up to the person themself. i've considered writing a book once... well i'm still thinking about it because i kept changing the plot.. i had come up with this one : you wake up one day and realise that you're invisible, you're alive, but invisible, no one can see you... you can use it if you want because i decided to go one a different line altogether after that! |
