The thing is there aren't 100% sure birth control methods, so there's always a small chance of getting pregnant... I know people the use 2 birth control methods for extra safety, that depends on each one... as I told a while ago, I was using those implants that go under your arm's skin and got pregnant... so... talking about birth control methods failing???

I know what you're talking about but I don't know it's name in english!!! it's like T something.... In my country they call it "T de cobre" but I know it have some side effects like very bad cramps when you're with your period, more bleeding and it's not 100% neither because if it moves from it's place like because of a fall or something you will get pregnant!

Condoms can break and without them you can get a nasty STD so I say both (strap twice)

Copper T IUD (Intrauterine Device) - An IUD is a small device that is shaped in the form of a "T." Your health care provider places it inside the uterus. The arms of the Copper T IUD contain some copper, which stops fertilization by preventing sperm from making their way up through the uterus into the fallopian tubes. If fertilization does occur, the IUD would prevent the fertilized egg from implanting in the lining of the uterus. The Copper T IUD can stay in your uterus for up to 10 years. It does not protect against STDs or HIV. This IUD is 99% effective at preventing pregnancy. Requires visits with your health care provider to have it inserted and to make sure you are not having any problems. Not all health care providers insert IUDs.

Progestasert IUD (Intrauterine Device) -This IUD is a small plastic T- shaped device that is placed inside the uterus by a health care provider. It contains the hormone progesterone, the same hormone produced by a woman's ovaries during the monthly menstrual cycle. The progesterone causes the cervical mucus to thicken so sperm cannot reach the egg, and so that a fertilized egg cannot successfully implant into the lining of the uterus. The Progestasert IUD can stay in your uterus for one year. This IUD is 98% effective at preventing pregnancy. Requires visits with your health care provider to have it inserted and to make sure you are not having any problems. Not all health care providers insert IUDs.

thats what im talking about, both of those. but i guess i was wrong, its 99% effective. but still, thats better then the pill. but like it says, doesnt protect against STD's and HIV.

Then we're talking the same... I know it's made of copper I guess... this metal releases I don't know what that kill sperms and don't let them go all the way to the egg... I'm not completely sure but I guess that's how it works... but as I told, if it moves from it's place there are great chances of getting pregnant, and also, it don't protects from STI....

My opinion on this is pretty much what's been said already... Both condoms and the pill will help prevent pregnancy. But when it comes to venereal diseases then you'll need to use physical barriers like condoms to make sure that they don't spread.

I would also advise getting regular checkups for STDs - most healthcare clinics offer these for free

That's a very good advice Andro!
I don't see anything wrong if someone wants to sleep around, but it's always good to be careful with you and others... going everything spreading a disease it's not the nicest thing to do...

So, for avoiding pregnancies the pill is better, but always use a condom if you're just sleeping around, because you don't know if the person have any disease that you can get... the best advice around is using both... everyone's right about that...

Um you're not supposed to take the morning after pill on a daily basis

Tell her to get on the regular pill and use condoms.

after-morning-pills aren't regular pills at all.. so i doubt "your friend" actually uses them after every sexual intercourse or w/e it is u seemed to be saying. besides as far as i know u cant get them without a specific prescription. they are extra strong pills that will make u sick as hell cuz they're supposed to completely cleanse u.. so its not supposed to be considered as an option for contraception. if u "forgot" to use contraception before and while having thex, your last resort can be an after-morning-pill, but believe me, thats no fun. i guess its better to get thru that than to wake up two weeks later and have to go thru abortion.

anyway yea, protect yourselves kids

hmm.. well morning after pills aren't prescription-only, at least not in the UK. If they were, that would pretty much defeat the purpose of it being an 'emergency contraception', what with doctors surgeries being closed at weekends etc.

I know a lot of people here are saying 'use both', but does anyone actually use both? I know I don't, and no-one I know does. That's not to say you shouldn't.. obviously better safe than sorry.

So many guys just literally seem to show no concern about contraception, refuse to use condoms etc. Such an odd attitude to have.
