Hey, i dont care what you American bashers say, america is the absolute best place for entertainment.

We got the PGA, the NBA, the NFL, Major League Baseball...

We got A-Town with the Underground
We got Boston with the CRAZY seafood
We got Tennessee, Kentucky, and all them Southern States with the best dang sweet tea in the world
And yall know ya cant top LA and NYC!!!
Plus we got ammusement parks in every even remotely large city

Now i know yall hate us because we got Bush. Well, Bush isnt America and America isnt Bush. We chose Bush over Kerry because Kerry completely sucked whereas Bush just sucked, lol.

If you get past Bush, America is absolutely great. Spend a week here, have some fun and yall will love it, im 100% positive, mabye not more then u love your home country, but u will still love it, trust me.

If there's one thing I hate, it's overly patriotic people. It's stupid. Sure, you can be proud of your country, but you don't have to tell everyone, all the time. I'm not just talking about Americans. Norwegians are just as bad. I don't think threads like these make people like a country. If someone's against America, this will only make it worse.

i've noticed that America tho is filled with either overly-patriotic ppl (which i am one of but idc if u hate me for it or not) orwith ppl who hate this country and everything about it. there aren't many people who have mixed views. i mean ik that we do some things that are stupid, like having a mcdonalds every half mile down the road (exageration) its rediculous (sp?)

but i am very proud of my country b/c of everything we've accomplished over our relatively short time that we've been an indipendant nation. We went from a poorly trained army with a small militia, to one of the most powerful armies in the world, we've discovered/invented so many things that changed how people live all over the world. I.E. television, automobile, airplane, electricity/light bulb.

i just think that we dont deserve to be hated by the rest of the world just b/c of a few things we do wrong.

Ever heard the expression: "Every rose has it's thorn" so please dont just focus on the negative, and realize that yes America may not be perfect, but neither is any country.

Yeah, that's true. But what you did now was to defend your country. You didn't make a thread bragging about how it's the best country around. There's a difference.

i did something good! lol

honestly, and for those who hate us b/c of the war in Iraq, we're doing it to help those who were opressed by Sadam, and to put an end to his evildoings such as testing chemical warefare on his people, and killing of his people for no good reasons. The only reason we're still over there, is not only to help them establish their new government, but also b/c we're still being attacked by those who dont understand how evil Sadam was.

to all you america bashers, just shut up. a country would not be a country if faults were not present. move to another country and live there for a while and deal with all the internal conflicts that they deal with, and then compare it to america. we have the best military, best industry and are the best at many numerous things.

have you ever heard of aliens going to any other country? no.

America bashers? When did expressing an opinion becoming bashing? there's this thing called cristiam that everyone gets. I mean I like in the UK i cristize the government and the politics here. only becuase I have the free speech to do so. If I didn't it would mean, i was not allowed to express opinon about my country.

That's what free speech is therefore, to priase and critise things.

alien is another term for Foreign, then yes I can imagine aliens migrating to another country.

all i have to say about that is that bush has probably killed more people (americans and iraqis combined) in 3 years than saddam has in 30, and we have already caught the guy! when are we gonna leave the iraqis to lead their own country? we dont have to butt into EVERYONE's business! we cant force countries to be "democratic" and eat "freedom fries"!!

and the whole point of going into iraq in the first place was to get the wmds out, but have we found any? NO--and that's why i dont like george bush, he lies to his country and his duty as a president is to keep his country safe and updated as to what is going on in the world, and going into iraq has probably made us more of a target to terrorist groups than anything else.

what about stopping north korea where we KNOW they have wmds? they said so themselves! THEY have been testing them on their people--and theres PROOF! so either a whole bunch of us americans are gonna die from another big terrorist attack, or the whole world will die from korea's nuclear weapons.

My question is...

When did the U.S. (the first country to have, and the only country to use, nuclear weapons) gain the right to dictate that no one else could have those weapons?

Why do WE get to say we're the only ones who can play in the sandbox?

Exactly.

You have to disarm while we get to keep our stockpile of 11,000!

Iraq was for oil and everyone knows it.
Also, Vietnam was unjustifed and the boat sinking in the Sea of Tonkin that started the Vietnam War was BUILT ON LIES.

mmm...wait, there's some simliarities to Iraq isn't there......

Also, the Americans when they went into Baghdad, ONLY PROTECTED THE MINISTRY OF OIL AND NO OTHER BIULDING.
That's right, hospitals got looted, priceless artifacts stolen forever from the Baghdad muesum THAT SADDAM ACTUALLY HELP PROTECT......

HELL, THERE'S EVEN A NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC PHOTO OF U.S. TROOPS SURROUNDING THE MINISTRY OF OIL BUILDING!

And you know, 'Saddam found in the hole' thing...that was set-up by for the media by the US army.

I could say far more but it's getting late here.

I stand corrected.

Anyway, Bush is using shortcuts in Iraq.

For example, sending poorly armoured Hummers into Iraq. As a result, US soliders have been killed through bomb blasts in which a a moderate armoured Hummer could take.
The situation was so bad that US soliders were making do with makeshift armour even though they have requested by months for better armoured Hummers.

(The US army is finally sending them, but not without a cost to a few more American lives, which was such a waste as they were SO preventable)

Also, now Bush is using your National Guards to be send to Iraq.

So much for 'homeland security'.

Why?

Because they're cheaper to send into Iraq than reserves.
That's why Jamie, your collegues in Germany won't be sent to Iraq in great numbers (at least for a while).

LOL...

National Guard and Reserves are both paid for by the state government, not the federal government. So, yeah, it's cheaper to use them than us.

I've heard about the equipment problem, but it's Army-wide, not just in Iraq. It's not that Bush is using shortcuts, but that the defense budget has been spent elsewhere, because our equipment did just fine the last time it was in Iraq and Kuwait - but, that was 10 years ago.

I'm with 1st Armored Division in Germany - have you ever seen Fehrenheit 9/11 (I know I butchered the spelling of that)? Anyway, look at the shoulder patches of the troops featured in that movie. It's the 1AD unit patch. The majority of the division isn't going, cause they all just got back. My specific unit, 141 Signal Battalion, IS going BACK. Not sure I can say when, etc, cause of OpSec, but...*shrug*

Ok, I'm not completely sure about all of this and the facts, as I have no interest in either American or British history, but I'm pretty sure you didn't invent all those things that you said you did.

Well, I think that there was an Englishman who made an electric lamp, and Thomas Edison developed that into the light bulb.
As I said, I don't know much about it, although I know a guy who is extremely pro-British and insists that we invented practically everything.
Next time I talk to him I'll post what he says here. However, I don't agree with the majority of it.

Anarchy, I just ran a search on the history of the electric lamp, and found this:

Electric Lighting Begins

Sir Humphrey Davy of England invented the first electric carbon arc lamp in 1801.
A.E. Becquerel of France theorized about the fluorescent lamp in 1857.
Sir Joseph Swann of England and Thomas Edison both invented the first electric incandescent lamps around the 1870s.
Thomas A. Edison of the United States invented the first commercially successful incandescent lamp around 1879.

So...we're both right, in a sense...
