There's a piercing that young girls are taking part of now, called corset piercing. I know it's not a new thing, but now it's actually a trend which is something more than just a few people here and there doing it. Girls are actually getting this done for their PROMS, etc.

It's piercings up the back or side in two rows where hooks or eyelets are put in so that they can be laced up like a woman's corset with ribbon. Here's a link of a bit of info and pictures of this latest trend:

This looks EXTREMELY painful. If you're a thin person, how is there even enough fat or skin to pierce? Not to mention the ribbon stuff being tied against your back or side. Yeow.

So I'm just wondering if you've seen this or gotten this done or if you haven't - what you think about it. It will be interesting for me to hear what you think. Some guys I've talked to have said it was hot to them, and some thought it was freaky. Maybe I've been living under a rock, but it just kind of surprised and shocked me; I've never seen anything like this, and it's now become an actual trend among young girls.

6,667 posts	Ive never seen that before... It's just sick, who would want to get something like that done?! It's hiddeous and looks extremly painful, plus, what if someone accidentally tugs at it and pulls one of the rings out? your skin would come off too..

13,961 posts	Oh - I was wrong. They also do this on the stomach too, and other places (ahem) and apparantly guys get it done too on their back or whatever, the same as a female.

3,484 posts	It says on that site its predominantly a temporary thing. I think its pretty gross looking. Isn't it just easier, cheaper and less painful to buy a damn corset? I don't know how a guy could find it sexy ... Its so weird looking.

1,003 posts	Eurgh, if thats real, then its extremely stupid. I think the picture in black and white at the bottom, with the ribbon at the side looks pretty cool though, but not cool enough to actually do.

13,961 posts	I agree that the one on the side looks the best. It actually looks kind of decorative to me.. and it looks better in my opinion than the ones on the backs. But either way, I wouldn't want it done on myself.

811 posts	I don't know anyone who has actually done that. It looks way to painful and I don't think it looks that good on the persons back, but the one up the side looks kinda awesome... still creepy...

22,182 posts	We learned about corsets in technical theatre....a lot of women would die when they started to wear one because it would compress their ribs as well, not just their stomach. So your ribs would brek and die, if you were lucky your broken robs would float around inside of you instead of puncturing your lung. That's why a lot of feminist groups came out actually...because they knew women could do as much as men, or near as much, if they weren't bound... A lot of the images of "dainty" for women came because of the restirctive fashions. For example, why during some periods did they do through doors sideways? Because it was during the Elizabethan time, and they had baskets on their hips to make them look bigger...they were lucky, the Queen wanted to be the biggest and had to wear wagon wheels under her dress. Another "dainty" image is that they never ate much...because they were too "ladylike to eat". Fact is, their corsets restricted them from eating as much as they would like to. Corsets stopped women from eating, working, walking properly...a ton of stuff, so I don't understand why people would want to bring that hideous thing back.
