Ok, I'll copy the daily poll : What do you think about abortion? and WHY...
I'm not sure about it...I'm not against it nor for it...I just don't judge those who decide it's the best for them...it's a hard thing to do though...I don't have children of my own but I have a nice-godchild that I love so much and she's a single mom child and I know how much these women suffer...so I just don't judge or blame those who do it, I guess they're absolutely desperated to get there. And I think in those women that are so poor and have already 3 other kids, if not more ( things that you see a lot here in Peru ) and I can't imagine them bringing another kid to this world to have hunger and live in the streets begging for money...it's complicated I know...so...what do you think??

This debate begins and ends with the impossible task of defining whether a fetus is considered a human or not.

It'll never end.

Not necesarily, some people doesn't care about a fetus being a human...it's just more about what you feel about it...life begins when? the exact moment of conception? when the embrion becomes a fetus? would you consider you gf/wife or whatever having an abortion? I have to say that many times women take this choice because of the pressure of their couples...so...men....what do you think?

People are given the right to choose, it's in the Declaration. We have the right to do this. But then again, it's depriving a life, someone will die, never see the light of day, never see the light of God. It's a fair argument, you just have to compare both sides and see which one you see fit.....

I'm not for it or against it...killing (which is what it is) a fetus is obviously bad, even if a fetus isn't really considered human. If the woman wanted to have an abortion because she just didn't want the baby, then I'd probably be against abortion. But what if the mother was raped? Then letting it live would be unfair, since it would be unwanted and it would probably crush the mother's hopes for the future. And if the baby was born, the mother may not be able to support it and there may be another kid on the streets selling drugs or turning to prostitution to try to survive. Now that I've thought a little about it...I'm totally pro-abortion.

This reminds me of the song "A Matter of Rights" by Reset

There's too much controversy and debate for the 'for' and 'against' for me to put all my eggs in one basket. Therefore I'm sitting on the fence with this one. Anyone care to join a young, good looking Irishman?

i'm for and against it. It's not against the law...well not in the U.K. to do it under a certain amount of days. I think it's okey to do it when you've been raped, because that's not your choice. But to have sex without using protection, you shouldn't be entitled to an abortion if you ask me. I believe life begins as soon as the sperm reaches the egg. But if you were raped, and have the baby i think you'd look at the baby as a result of your assult, which is kind of depressing. And nobody asks to be raped.

I think it would be better if we reworded this poll to choose between Pro-Life and Pro-Choice. In a sense, Pro-Choicers and both for and again abortion while Pro-Lifers are totally against. There's really no one way or the other about it without these terms.

Happy debating! Try not to make it a mass debate.

I am against abortion as a form of birth control.

I believe that abortion really shouldn't be the issue. The issue should be unprotected sex. I think that rather than focusing on abortion itself, we should be attempting to find a way to eliminate the necessity of an abortion, possibly through education. If no one were to get pregnant unprepared, only those in certain situations, such as rape, incest, or risk to mother or child's life, would need abortions, and those seem to be the commonly accepted abortions anyway.

That's just my two cents...for my part, I could never bring myself to have an abortion, and I would be highly distressed if anyone of my friends or family did so...I would probably understand her reasoning...I wouldn't agree, but I would at least understand.

i'm against
i think it's too cruel to kill an innocent fetus
if you didn't want a baby, why the hell didn't you use protection??

but i also accept that there are some cases where abortion is the best choice,e.g. if the pregnancy causes harm to the mother

i'm not sure, the only thing i know is that i'd never do it

miss_sixty, sounds to me like you agree with me...that abortion in and of itself is not the underlying issue...unsafe sex is.

yep, we both think the same more or less

and sweetie, i once thought like you, but after too many discussions with friends now i think that althogh abortion is not the best thing to do, having a no-wanted baby won't be good for the baby neither

I think preventing a pregnancy is a tangent to the debate. I think that perhaps the method of conception is worthy of discussing in the abortion issue, but the topic at hand is assuming that the woman is already pregnant. No what ifs.

Again, I'm not participating. I just think I'm above everyone.

b/c i think killing is wrong......whether its a fetus or not........and if you think thats not a good enough reason then............cuz there are just some things i believe in very strongly and very few things can shake my thoughts............and that happens to be one of them

I believe we should all have the right to legally murder 17 people in our lifetime.

I love you all, really I do! You're my best friends! Don't hurt me...

Sweetie - I understand what you're saying; I think there's something inherantly wrong in the following scenario:

A pregnant woman is walking into an abortion clinic, with the intention of having an abortion; she's shot and killed. The shooter is charged with 2 counts of homicide.

But, I think that making abortion illegal is not the anwer, because there are situations where abortion is the only viable answer.

Perhaps science could focus on a fetus transplant? Take a living fetus from a mother who doesn't want it, and put it in a woman who does?

I'm not anti-abortion, I believe in the right to have one, especially in circumstances like rape.

However I couldn't have one myself, I feel that if I get pregnant then it is mine and my guy's fault, so I wouldn't take my stupidity out on my unborn baby. I also couldn;t live with that kind of guilt, I don;t even kill mosquito's so....lol. I think I'd just have to learn to accept that my life was gonna change in a big way.

Sorry if someones already said this, haven't really read all the other posts, lol.
