I just finished reading: The Curious Incident of the Dog in Night Time by Mark Haddon. It's about a boy called Chris who's really clever but very ill. It's really good and I recomend it. it rele made me think. What books have you read that really made you think or that you really loved??

the book that made me think is the boy called it. it made me feel sad that people out there do that to kids. i really recommed 4 everyone to read. it really makes you think twice when you pick on your little brother or sister.

Little prince by Antoine de Saint Exupery!

And some poetry, e.g. by Arno Kotro

Many other books as well, but to say: I've never finished any of the Harry Potters though i've started several with of them (open minded!!).
Can somebody tell what's the thing that attracts in them?

'Simplify your life' ... a guide on how to live an uncluttered life

and it got me thinking: should I throw it in the dustbin or burn it?

Nice to know that there are some readers in here...

I have read SO MANY good books, but most are entertaining but not thought provoking...

The ones that made me think a bit are The Power of One and Alive

Aside from all the very interesting and thought provoking books I have had to read for school (lots of philosophy: Plato, Socrates, Aristotle, Lao Tzu, etc), the most thought provoking books that I have read as pleasure reading would have to be His Dark Materials trilogy by Phillip Pullman, and The Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. They are both really interesting series of books... although Discworld is at something like 13 books...

A Brave New World
Cat's Cradle (and all other books by Kurt Vonnegut)

All terrific books that'd I'd suggest to anyone and everyone.

I've read that book, it's a good read but not one that particularly got me thinking. A Short History of Nearly Everything by Billy Bryson is very thought-provoking though, it really puts everything into perspective.

Running With Scissors.. I think its by Augusten Burroughs, or something to that effect.

it's a memoir... prolly one of the most whacked out ones you will ever read... and it's funny because you think 'this can't possibly be true'.. then you research a little bit and find out that the author was sued by the family he wrote about becasue they said that 'it wasn't true at all, and he blemished their family name'.... haha then you find out it really is real.. and you have pictures/bios on the real people to prove it.

it was pretty good.. not for the easily offended or the faint of heart I assure you.
