Curtis-

You're right. Once the fetus turns into a baby, it's not dependent on the mother anymore. It can live completely on its own.

What was I thinking?

Can you measure the benefits of life against its ills, especially before it even occurs? Is it worth avoiding pain and tragedy if you also forfeit love and friendship?

Just a thought.

Honestly, I would probably support abortion if I had a vote. Only because I think the people who are for some reason inclined to seek abortions would do so at unsafe clinics, when safe and well-regulated facilities can be provided. It's unfortunately inevitable, so it should not be dangerous.

What do I think? I think a person with such crappy grammar shouldn't be trusted with the delicate subject of abortion. Yes, it is an ethical dilemma but one that deserves better representation than by sum1 whoe wryts lyk dis

I'm massively pro-choice. Sick of paying taxes to single mothers who can't get a job because they've got a child they don't want. I'm only half joking.

On a more serious note though, it's the mother's right to decide up to a point. I think the latest an abortion can legally take place is 24 weeks. I think it should be less than this.. at 24 weeks the baby could survive on its own, and its nervous system has developed.

Whether or not I'd ever have an abortion or not is a different matter. As long as I'm careful, I'll hopefully never have to make that decision.

bah I started mine in the 6th grade when I was like 10 or 11 =(

A baby can actually live out side of the womb at 20 weeks.. =\

I see too many moms come in here with IUFD's all upset .. that it just pisses me off that someone would willingly get rid of it

Yes, that is the reason for 'idiots'

But if a teen gets pregnant I think that they should have the option of having an abortion.

I know there's a law against forcing someone, but is there really anyone who enforces that law?

If it is their parents that are forcing them then it really isn't anyone elses business as the parents of the teen will probably end up with most of the responisblility. Girls that I know that have gotten pregnant in their teens just dump the baby on their parents.

At 12? I really think it has something to do with her upbringing if that's the case, I mean. Most 12 year old think sex is icky, and they just think kissing is hot, haha.

well a parent forcing their child to have an abortion is a form of child abuse. My friend was forced to have an abortion, because they threatened to give her up to the state and would make sure never got to see the father of her baby. Now she can't look at anything that reminds her of pregnancy or babies without bursting out in tears. She is my age. She tried to ask for help at the local clinic but the councilor just kept pushing her to get, after repeatedly saying she didn't want an abortion. What about that?

Also don't ask for opinions and then get all uppity.

The fact that your friend probably wouldn't even be out of high school by time the kid started kindergarten should be a red flag that kids shouldn't have kids.
Yes, I'm sure having an abortion against your will is very tramatic but really, what would she have done if she kept it and her parents disowned her? Who would take care of it and HER?

i guess your right, but what should I do to help her emotionally? Her boyfriend though was saying he was gonna help, along with his parents, but I think that falls into having the parents taking care of their child's, child...
I just concerned for my firend; she's just sunk into a depression, and feels miserable...

Honestly, there might not be anything you can do but be a friend. She may need professional help if it messed her up that bad.

I don't think there's anything wrong with abortion. There're loads of reasos why it's something which should be considered OK.
If you been raped, or you are just to young to have a baby, I have no problem with abortion..
I kinda never have a problem with abortion....
