I don't feel that there's anything wrong with abortion. When you look around at the number of abused and unwanted kids there are, having a child aborted seems like the lesser of two evils.

Hey, there are loads of threads on this, most of which have been closed, but here's some of them

LSI poll on abortion

But my personal opinion is that if a girl really couldn't cope with a baby or had been raped or something, or if the baby was going to be born with serious difficulties such as MS or Muscular Fibrios or something then sure, I think that's the mother's right

If I was a chick, I would get an abortion simply because any child of mine is going to be beaten to death sooner or later anyway, may as well spare them the pain.

Well...look at things from a non-emotional point of view.

Would you think a good place to bring a child up is one where there is an abundance of rape, war, murder, torture and evil? Would you see any point in bringing in a life whose life will be to work all day every day just to make enough money to pay for a house?

It's an interesting viewpoint!

Of course, you bring in emotions and there's the love and compassion you'll feel for that child, but we couldn't bring them into a place of worse actions!

This is the new official abortion discussion thread. Despite having multiple threads about it and all of them being closed, this topic deserves an outlet to be discussed, and here it will stay.

I think it's wrong I mean killing ur own baby(NO) Just saying if ur gonna have sex and then u get pregnant and u don't want the baby, well then u should of just kept ur damn legs shut or just take ur damn responsability and take care of ur unborn child and if u can't well adoption is a opition.

thats all well and good, but what if your walking through down the steets of, lets say New York City, and a guy grabs you, beats you up and rapes you and you get pregnant. should you not have the option of getting an abortion? or must you have the baby by some random rapist?

thats my big thing with abortion is what if you did everything right but still got pregnant, i feel you should have the right to do what you want with your body. the baby is still in you and barely developed so why shouldnt you be able to? and why should people care so much about others anyways? if you put half the effort into caring about yourself then you do others you'd be straight.

I just took a minute to kinda see if I could find out what the law really is in the U.S. - I found this quote:

Since 1992, elective abortions can be banned after actual viability (c. 20-22 weeks)

So - my interpretation of that quote is, a fetus is considered "viable" after 20 weeks.

There are sonogram pictures on my page of my daughter, taken at 18 weeks - when I could still legally have an abortion.

In those pictures, my daughter was already that - she was already most definately a girl; it was already plain to see that she has my mouth; even a perfectly formed foot. The doctor even showed us her brain and heartbeat during the ultrasound.

If, at 18 weeks, she had gender, a brain, a heartbeat, and a face all her own, why is she not considered viable until 20 weeks? Why was it "my choice" to keep her or not for another 2 weeks AFTER I was able to feel her move, AFTER she was able to suck her thumb?

She developed a heartbeat by her 8th week. Perhaps abortion prior to that is not murder - but how can abortion any later NOT be?

I'm so sick and tired of pussyfooting around this issue. I'm so sick of being diplomatic about my opinions. I've defended this over and over till I'm blue in the face, and if you want all my defenses go read the other threads.

Basically, what it comes down to, is that just reading the word "abortion" makes me want to burst into tears.

I saw a bumper sticker that said "Save the baby humans!"

and please, people, I urge you to at least skim through the other abortion topics before posting in this one...no matter WHAT argument you have on WHAT side of this, I can all but guarantee that it's already been made.
